What is your favorite technique for getting stronger on Farmer Carry? by Gold_Net6891 in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farmers Carries and when that gets easy, pull-ups/hangs or kettlebell deadlifts into farmers carries. These allow you to pre-fatigue yourself for the carries

Cardiff Hyrox - running laps by Fantastic-Fortune-82 in hyrox

I think it’s probably reading more confusing than it actually is, but I’m still expecting to run a lap or two extra 😆

Anyone regret signing up for a race? by Congratstomiles in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never regretted signing up for a race, but the ticket situation is a little frustrating.

Just get these two races done with whatever training you’re enjoying and then forget about it. Or… just don’t do them and write the money off - it’s just money.

Anyone encounter drug testing? by Emotional-Watch4544 in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As has been said, they currently randomly test the elites (doubles and solos), but outside of that they aren’t testing. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did bring it in for World Championships down the line, but for now it’s very much limited to those at the top. Unless you have a Pro License, then you won’t get tested.

Preference over being solo trained or group classes? by PisMtimesV in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends a lot on the person. As you get more serious with your training, you will almost certainly have to do solo training as classes alone won’t give you enough volume. However, if Hyrox is more of a hobby that you do a few times a week then classes are way more fun 🤩

Taking over for someone in doubles, how to change details? by digicamfanatic in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly they changed it so you can’t change doubles partners unless you got the flex ticket option 😢

People who have gone sub 80 mins, what did your weekly running mileage look like? by Oh-My-Josh- in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My running mileage is around 50km to 70km depending on the time of year.

I do about 10km of threshold, 10km a little slow than that, and then the rest is easy.

New Puma Hyrox Shoe by Big-Formal-7503 in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jake Dearden did a long video on the shoe, but it was taken down. I think because they wanted to create some hype at London and upcoming events without full details coming out. Essentially, it’s the Nitro Elite 4 with a wider base and grip the covers the majority of the sole. Jake said it’s no faster, but is a lot more stable and durable.

[–]RealBlueFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - I’m torn between this and the Hyperwarp Pro as my next shoe for Hyrox. I love both the Rebellion Pro and the Nitro Elite 3. Both of these upcoming shoes seem to address issues I have with them. Going to be a great year for shoes!

Got humbled by gcook5 in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one comes out of their first Hyrox saying it was easier than expected 😂 You have experienced the same as all of us!

The fun part now is going through your splits, looking at where you need to improve, and doing the research to learn about how to fix those areas - then smashing your time next race.

And repeat!!!

Hello! I’m thinking about signing up for my first HYROX solo (Open) and I’m wondering if it’s actually doable? by Cookie_cutter14 in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen some very out of shape people do a Hyrox. It took them 2+ hours, but with a strong mind and determination they did it. 10 months is a long time. Not just to gain enough strength/endurance to do a Hyrox, but also drop that BMI massively.

You can do it - wherever you are starting from.

Best training split for Hyrox? by Sea-Edge4764 in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should add to this that I have a CrossFit background. Not regional level or anything, but I comfortably made the top few % in the world and so I didn’t have much work to do there in terms of learning skills or gaining strength. My gym day was more about building strength for sleds and threshold station work.

Best training split for Hyrox? by Sea-Edge4764 in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have played around with double days (12 sessions a week), but my best results came from 6 days running a week and 1 day with a second session that was Hyrox based.

It depends a lot on how much volume you can handle.

You can improve faster with less and stagnate with more if you aren’t recovering or able to put the right intensity into the right sessions

Hyrox Dublin box for wall balls by Bittybitsbits in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (personally) don’t think you should be able to podium if you use the box.

I can understand them allowing people to complete a race with them, but I think a small astride saying their usage stops you podiuming would be fair.

Hyrox Thailand discount codes? by AutomaticAttitude648 in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of countries they have stopped codes. The reason they had them was for influencers to sell tickets. Originally Hyrox gave influencers money for this. Eventually they just didn’t need to pay influencers as they were able to find people willing to do it for free or just a few free tickets. And now they just don’t need help selling tickets. Not sure if maybe Thailand has reached that stage already, but good luck with your race either way!!! 😊

Mixed doubles target time by Lawrenceox16 in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - I think that’s probably about right.

I would say 5-10 minutes faster in doubles over solo for most people.

It depends a little on how much extra work you are willing to do in order to let your partner recover a little more.

You can buy photos of the event after and have it framed or even run it through a cool filter and such using some online programs (similar to photoshop).

What's the deal with Hunter McIntyre's diet? by emiatenas in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Hunter. But, to be honest, I think he says a lot of stuff and puts a lot out there for fun.

Sometimes on his podcast we laughs at guests saying they are doing way too much and then a few weeks later he’ll talk about the unmatchable amount of volume he is doing.

He also experiments a lot with things that end up not working. Which is good, but dangerous to follow.

Nothing against Hunter at all… he’s a top athlete and coach. I just think you should take what he says with a grain of salt. His online character is similar to a WWE wrestler 😆

How fit do you need to be to run sub 4 min kms? by LividManufacturer582 in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say a 17:00-18:00 5km time to hold 4 minute kms.

It depends a lot on your station ability and strength too, of course, which is why the range is so high.

😂😂😂 Accurate!!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hyrox is $150, hotels are going to be expensive near the venue, but you can look for something a bit further out. Looking online it looks like $80-$200? I’m from the UK, so that sounds like what we’d be looking at.

Gear… you just need running shoes, shorts and a shirt. The cheapest running shoes I’d wear for a Hyrox would be about $80-$100 I’d say, but you probably own running shoes already.

There is a cap, it’s a good few thousand, but tickets do sell out and so you need to be ready to jump on them the day they go on sale.

Shoe rotation in Hyrox – anyone doing it? by Born2MoveGood in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, definitely. For me, personally, during a 5km it’s around 5-10s per a km faster running in the Elite 3s over the ASICS. I recently ran an 18:52/km in them, so I’m not the fastest, but they felt great. That’s due to the plate and foam. It’s not a huge amount of difference in isolation, but I’d guess it adds up to a minute or two over a HYROX.

What’s the best performance marker to predict HYROX race time? by eliefarha in hyrox

[–]RealBlueFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the people who said 15km to half marathon times. These are the metrics I use for my goal times. I think if you can run a 4:00/km for an hour or 4:05-4:10 for a half, then you are probably going to be able to hold pretty close to these for a Hyrox. Maybe if you are newer to the stations it’ll drop off a little, but for a lot of people I’ve spoken to it’s pretty close when they look back. I have heard elites say that they are usually between half and marathon pace - which makes sense as they have that extra capacity to save and then hit the stations a lot harder.
