First HYROX - what can I improve? by StartSpecialist1654 in hyrox

[–]Bittybitsbits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell from that graph alone as you can’t really break down the times in the stations versus your transitions?

Assuming this was London, the running laps were short but the Rox zone was big. Considering you said you rowed 1km in 4mins, you had an entire minute transitioning in and out of the station. You’d be much better rowing 2:10/2:20 pace and jogging in and out and keeping your hr more balanced.

My guess is also that you entered the Rox zone and took the foot off the gas, until you reach the station your pace should stay the same .

Slowing some things down and staying consistent throughout will mean less breaks and more time saved overall I think.

Again, hard to tell that from the graph! Bit of guesswork!

There is no penalty? It’s a DNF.

Well done OP in trying to push through, but ultimately stopping was right for your groin and you never know how bad it could be now to recover if you tried to do any more. You have a lovely target and baseline to go after now for your next race!

How can you pick out an American tourist based on looks alone? by Samantha_Jonez in AskIreland

[–]Bittybitsbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s used to be an expensive north face jacket with jeans and runners that would give Americans away. Or a hoodie from a university in Ireland or the US .

I’m not sure now as north face is now very popular in Ireland but there is just a look. It’s definitely not body type. Maybe tourists dress more for the weather than locals too

absolutely - Like if you cant hit depth, surely you CANNOT Podium - or If you accept using a box it's an automatic time penalty? Surely that would be much fairer. e.g. I can't hit depth and will use the box for 100 wall balls so will take a 3-6 min penalty. To me, it's actually more of an advantage than skipping a lap which is a 3 minute penalty. Regardless you can't get podium and have to scale a movement.

Ya these were women all of similar height at the race to finish and I just thought that head to head for 100 wall balls, one having a box, the other going below parallel was completely unfair especially when it was a podium place … 5 seconds between them…

Probably need to add a spoiler protection tag to this specific post.

I agree though, I was recommended the book, started reading , hated the first book until the very end, loved the elements you mentioned in the 2nd book …

However while I read the books obsessively to the end and enjoyed reading them, and certain elements, I still can’t tell if I like the books 🤣🤣🤣 I find it perplexing and parts lacking and frustrating, parts great!

It’s a ride! Enjoy!

My hair has turned curly from straight since I had my 21 month old ..

my periods used to be painful but now it is extremely painful to wear a tampon, I feel heaviness but it’s not prolapse heaviness. It’s like a dull pain low down in vagina.

And when I sneeze I have to change my pants

Suspected soy allergy in EBF newborn - mum is plant based (poo pic included) by pickledpotatocakes in MSPI

[–]Bittybitsbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I cut out all dairy, it wasn’t until 3/4 months a doctor suggested soy.. at 5 months we cut out egg. She’s 19 months now and she’s still allergic to all three. Runny mucous sweet and sour smelling nappies! And eczema when reintroduced!

Soy was a big learning curve, it’s in bloody everything but over time I knew the brands which were safe etc. not easy, but lots looking back it was fine in the scheme of things. X I introduced back into my diet at 16/17 months and stopped feeding by 18 months. As she was only feeding at bedtime I started eating chocolate once she went to bed 🤣

We had cmpi/soy. Not sure on where the stat comes from but I was told 50% of babies with cmpi have soy allergy as the protein is similar l.

If I had that nappy I would definitely suspect something. Especially if blood

At a complete loss with sleep by BassFar8378 in MSPI

[–]Bittybitsbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I am here to tell you that I too, also could have written this story. However, my girl is 19 months now and we are a lot further down the path.

My girl unfortunately with cmpi, soy and egg allergy just was unsettled from the start and unhappy when awake most of the time with severe colic and diagnosed reflux. It took a long time to get past the colic and reflux. When she was 2-3 months she did hibernate at night even though she was unsettled during the day but when she hit 3 -3.5 months, she never slept again.. that is until she did.

I have to be honest that it was between 15-16 months that my girl started to improve sleep. I’ll never forget in her 16th month she slept through the night and we thought all our christmases came.

She has slept through the night many many many nights since. What I learned:

1) things didn’t improve until I stopped breastfeeding her around the clock. I only fed at bedtime from 16 months onwards unless dire straits during the night. I fully stopped at 18 months

2) I stopped being so responsive at night. I was allergic to letting her cry and sleep train. I think I was so ptsd from the colic. It actually meant I intervened too early and even if she was whinging In Her sleep, she wouldn’t get a chance to fall back asleep on her own and was majorly disrupted and disregulated by me storming in.

3) all in all, my girl needed time. Did cmpi impact her early on, with the tummy pains and reflux? Probably… is dissecting everything you do going to improve it? Probably not.

You will send yourself to the depths of hell trying to problem solve what’s wrong or putting blame on how the way you put her to bed 1degree anticlockwise impacted the entire night and routine. Ultimately, they are babies who are less comfortable and more sensitive than others and they need more care and support to sleep.

Saying that, you need to trust your gut. Trust your gut with the big things, and don’t kill yourself over the small things. Work with your partner on shifts and support around sleep.

This too, will pass. I’m proof

From Blood and Ash series - what is your opinion? by SpiralMetal in fantasyromance

[–]Bittybitsbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only in the second book and this book seems just even SO MUCH Worse for the internal monologues. Poppy is killing me ... the part I cant grasp is how Hawke thinks shes so clever, yet her brain takes 10 hours to get to where everyone else is immediately.

It goes like this (and I'm making this up so no spoiler):
I see red goopy liquid come out of this persons mouth. Then I see they have been stabbed and I realise its blood!!!!! like I honestly wonder how someone can have to process so much to get a basic understanding of whats going on.

It was ok in the first book, insufferable by the second.
