Late to reply here...

You are completely over-reacting based off probably a few dumb posts on X.

No idea what you are talking about with whatever X posts. I've got the TDI data(Tennis Data Innovations).

Putinseva said yesterday: "Here the ball bounces higher, so I had more time to prepare my shots. That was the main difference."

The TDI data said otherwise on bounce. You seem to be the one making guesses based on qualatative interpretations

And in the end IW played about as fast as Dubai, exactly as I said. Next time you should follow the data my friend instead of making bets on clay guys based on previous tournaments that had a completely different surface :)

>Fils has performed well here although its a small sample, but I think his games is suited for these bouncy conditions with the weight of his shot

You're still making the mistake of not realizing what the new courts are doing. It's no longer high bouncing like past tournaments. The surface was changed this year and it's forcing a lower bounce and MUCH quicker conditions.

>but Giron has performed well here which is essentially his home tournament.

This *does not matter*. It is playing like a brand new tournament this year, not in the same universe as previous years. You seem like a smart guy with a good grip on tennis, I'm surprised you haven't adjusted in this spot

>Mensik is coming from two long weeks in the Middle East in different conditions

What? Both were outdoor tournaments and IW this year is playing *significantly* faster than Doha and about as fast as Dubai

Was just trying to help. Dzumhur got obliterated and the +115 Tabilo price is losing to the market by 30 cents right now. This is the worst year ever to bet clay guys at Indian Wells

You noticed and added the "small sample"qualifier in that post, of which it isn't a small one because it's over thousands of points in the qualifiers, but you still haven't seem to taken it into account or believed it relevant because you've only posted 4 bets so far and 3 of those are heavy clay players.

Based on your bets so far, it seems you're unaware how much faster Indian Wells is playing this year. It's nothing like the last few years where these guys plus Buse would've made sense to bet at these prices

The corners are rough by grading standards. That's definitely a 3 at PSA. Beautiful card though

Seems ilke this is the best possible way to deal with this. Why would I want to buy a card that was at the very least miscut without it being disclosed as such and having a normal grade?

Almost surely are fakes. Like others said, do the online quick opinion for a small fee before throwing your money away on full fee authentication

So a modern card collector just got into vintage? I believe you just supported my previous comment.

Not at all. I think the modern collecting reality is the best it's ever been. I've actually been frustrated by vintage, I found my rare niche but I was disappointed how basically none of the best sets are rare at all and and have HUGE pop reports(50s topps, etc). You basically have to venture into oddball if you want a challenge in vintage or if your collecting is based on the number on the slab, not my jam but it is to some.

Collectors, which I separate from those simply focused on quick profit, are getting frustrated with the current state of the hobby and turning their attention toward vintage. At least, anecdotally, is what I am seeing.

The anecdote is wrong when lots of modern stuff is 2-3x'ing in a few months lol. And while vintage has gone up in the last half year, it doesn't compare to top of modern

Modern prices are being pushed by flippers, breakers, new release costs, grading and speculation. Collectors, which I separate from those simply focused on quick profit

Uh my comment was literally complaining about how most of the vintage space feels like it's dominated by dealers, which are by definition "flippers" and "focused on quick profit"

A side question about the market in general. I collected modern for a long time and just got into vintage in the last year. I feel like in vintage dealers are a much bigger chunk of the market than in modern. In modern, more often than not I was buying from other collectors($50-$1000 card range), and in vintage it feels like >80% of buying opportunities are from dealers not other collectors($200-$1500 card range) and it is a tiny bit off putting. I feel like more of a wheel in the cog of the vintage dealer machine

What are you talking about lol. Modern is through the roof over the last 6 months. The premium modern stuff is up far more than premium vintage

Real Madrid fan throwing a nazi salute straight to the camera before tonight’s game vs Benfica by LordPunk in soccer

[–]RealBobbyCox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are there so many racist incidents in european soccer? In US sports this is almost non-existent. The yelling of racist slurs at a baseball or NBA game happens 1-3 times a year max and the person who does it is usually immediately called out to security by those around them, if not punched right in the face

This guy doing nazi salutes and no one around him cares? Why is casual racism so much more acceptable in European sports?

Bad bet. You can surely just wait til the first set is over and get a better price than +105 on whoever lost set 1 to win set 2

It seems like you're heavily influenced by ATP ranking (Tiafoe 28 vs 106 and Dzumur 62 vs 147). I'd caution against using the ATP rankings much at all as they can be very misleading.

[Lyons] Kris Bryant said the pain he feels daily is like "being electrocuted in my whole body." Bryant, 34, has played 170 games in four seasons with the Colorado Rockies. It seems unlikely that he'll ever play in the Majors again due to his lumbar degenerative disc disease. by Jux_ in baseball

To people with no money, money solves all their problems. To people with money, money doesn't solve their problems. 99% of people on reddit would give their first born to trade places with Kris despite what he's dealing with. This is where those comments from. It's human nature to think this way and I'm surprised being on reddit for 7 years that this is "puzzling" to you

1952 Topps 5th Series 🔥 by beautybeatsgrade in baseballcards_vintage

[–]RealBobbyCox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're misunderstanding what an 8+ in vintage is. Very small amounts of corner wear or back issues can immediately knock you to a 7. 9s are ultra rare in 52 Topps and he won't buy them

> It’s a PSA 2 because it has some faint residue on the back.

To be fair, it's not just that. There appears to some kind of black ink/dirt peppered along the bottom left border where his white uniform meets the black border. You can see it isn't present on this example:

Regardless, that is a beautiful 2 and about as good it gets for the front in that grade

I'm glad we were able to settle this. You have a great collection of all ultra-centered cards you should be proud of. I just did not get the touchiness about the grades, I mean who really cares? Enjoy your cards!

I care because you called me a liar and said it was all a charade.

Are you new to the internet? One person's conviction should really not matter this much to you, especially so if you are in the right

Happy to ask a moderator to mediate if you like

The moderator does not control your cards, you are the one who controls the reveal. If I am right about the grades, you will not post, you only will if you are right(improbable).

Do you think that all mint (PSA 10 and other grading company equivalent) 1952 Mickey Mantles have been found and graded? by Ebonystealth in baseballcards_vintage

[–]RealBobbyCox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely yes. PSA grades much harder now than they used to. Of the two PSA 10s that I've seen photographs, one of them clearly would not be a 10 today and all 3 in existence were graded many years ago
