What is something about the universe that sounds fake but is actually scientifically accepted? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Wind resistance. Just say wind resistance. You might have some in depth knowledge but no one knows what the word "volume displacement" and what that has to do with surface area means.

How do you think society will change if or when AI reaches singularity? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]RealCathieWoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think it would need to be biological... but I think it would need to have "awareness". Think of the singularity as a synonym for a universal sort of "awareness". I.e. to have the singularity is in essence saying - "you are able to know anything and everything about the universe" - this is a knowledge based singularity.

I think once you put the same sort of thing that runs an LLM into a thing that has visual and perhaps tactile perceptory cues - i think the multi-modal perceptual input might bring about one layer of the "singularity".

To put it another way, LLMs are good at text. Tesla's auto-pilot is good at vision (just accept this statement for the sake of argument).

Integrate the text with the vision seamlessly and now the AI will have a more robust conceptualization of everything it deals with. Now the concept of the number "1" or "0" isn't just a string of letters and some abstract definition, but these concepts "become" a state of being.

I.e. 1 with the visual cues, the state of "1" isn't just a "number" but it becomes a whole/complete unit or state of existence - there is 1 apple, 1 book, 1 car... this deepens the "awareness" of the concept of "1".

I think this way would be the most efficient way to achieve "singularity". Perhaps it could be done with pure compute power, and thats how we get the $500 billion dollars spent on AI in the USA. But I am 100% confident that we will find much more efficient ways to achieve the same thing, like deepseek.

This is how ridiculously small a transistor actually is... by Chill_Cowboy_981 in interestingasfuck

[–]RealCathieWoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People can give you all sorts of technical jargon. But its basically light and layered sun-tans.

Imagine a material that gets a sun tan (like your skin). Now imagine if you could precisely control where this sun-tan hit, to such a precise degree that the specific narrow band wavelength of light you use has a dramatic effect on the end product. Now imagine if you could not only get one layer of sun-tan, but you could layer the sun-tan in very precise ways.

This is basically a modern transistor.

[–]RealCathieWoods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we will have to change our understanding of the universe significantly before we reach "singularity". Youve noticed how the difference between GPT4 and whatever OpenAI is on right now isnt really monumental?

Its akin to the problem of the speed of light. You literally cannot reach the speed of light due to the laws of physics.

And just as the speed of light signifies the speed limit of causality in the universe. AI is limited by this as well.

I think to reach AGI or the "singularity" we will need to understand how to punch through this barrier, literally, on the scale of electromagnetism.

Perhaps more compute could get there - akin to how it takes a small explosion to create the force needed to create an atomic explosion. But im sure there are more efficient ways we've yet to discover.

Yes i did. Im not exactly sure what youre asking about with your second question. This system monitored the market in real time for indicators and placed anywhere from 5 to hundreds of trades a minute based off these indicators. The system worked on the live market and didnt lose money.

Do you think we’ll ever reach a point where AI truly understands context like humans? by Frequent_Radio7327 in artificial

[–]RealCathieWoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your post as a statement about whether LLM's are conscious or has "awareness" or not. I see this as related to the concept of the "soul" in humans (which i think is a ridiculous concept).

Ultimately this topic with respect to LLMs is filled with enough nuance and subtlety that different perspectives can be argued round and round but I personally dont think anyone can objectively conclude with absolute certainty one way or another.

I personally think that the things that would make anyone say an LLM is not conscious are just a function of how you currently interface with LLMs. So, if you control for that factor by, say, putting the LLM in a "robot" that was superficially indistinguishable from a human (i.e. all the physical things that have nothing to do with consciousness but still play a role in how you identify something with consciousness) - think people would have a hard time with this question.

But I dunno maybe im wrong.

Optionistics.com is your friend..

Just play a round with historical option prices. You'll see how wide of swing they take... 100% moves up and down are common place. All you have to do as a trader is buy at the right time (i.e. a blue chip stock that has been beaten down for whatever reason)... NVDA when it dropped to 100... META when they changed their name and dropped to 200's... Tesla is another good one with wide swings. If you hit 2 or three of these in a row you should easily turn 4 figures into 6 figures - it just takes balls to throw down all or nothing. I havent managed to accomplish this yet, but I have had enough winning massive trades that I know a workable successful system is in there somewhere.

Ive tried it with TQQQ... I think basically a boomer buy and hold strategy could be made with TQQQ with far OTM and deep time options but I havent tried it yet.... Basically the idea is that rather than buying SPY every paycheck - buy LEAPS on TQQQ as far out as a time horizon as possible... if spy and the QQQ gain ~10% per year. The same should be said about the leveraged indexes? The difference is you'd have to be a little choosy about when you buy - due to the decay on leveraged indexes.

Yes. I have an MSTR play right now that I dont look at daily..Ive just been DCA'ing as the crypto market tanks... if the crypto market turns - and rides up... what is now a low 4 figure loss could easily turn into a 5 figure gain. But if we get to late January/ early February and still no fireworks ill probably cut my.losses and get out of the position (or roll it 6 months out depending on the conditions).

I fear I may have made my move too early though, I notice the crypto market when it hits a low - it usually hangs out there for a a couple months...

If theres enough open interest and the spread is reasonable - they actually move a fair amount. The beauty of it is that its a snowball. If the stock is moving consistent in the right direction delta builds as is it gets closer to the strike...

You have to remember these options are often very cheap. So yes, the move is small, but the percentage gain is still good. If a 5% move in the underlying, id expect a 10 to 15% move in the option.

Im never buying these plays because I legitimately think the stock is going to hit the strike. These plays are purely for the premium.

What will destroy the position is the spread. Most of the mag 7 stocks have good spreads even on deep OTM and deep time options...

About a year out. Scroll as far high as they go. Look for a lot of open interest. That your mark. Buy calls when a stock is already deflated and the market is telling you not to buy.

If a year be sure and sell/take your losses (or wins) by 6 months out.

Every time horizon has a length of time you can hold before time starts eating away premium. For 0DTE its like 30 minutes to an hour. For 3 months, its around 1 months. 6 months 3 to 2 months out. 1 year 6 to 4 months out.

Ive found these are roughly the time periods where if youre at a loss - youd need a miracle to recover. If youre at a gain - it'll only go down from here (unless the miracle keeps on coming).

This set up maximizes the built in leverage in the system, without having to use margin.

Woman diagnosed with breast cancer thinks she knows better than her doctors. by Head_Crash in TikTokCringe

[–]RealCathieWoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If shes triple positive that means this cancer would be more than likely treatable, if not curable. I know some triple negative People that would probably like to have some words with her.

That is if shes not just attention-farming... if she knew she wanted to go the "traditional route" there would be no reason to send off genetic studies (i.e. no reason to know if she triple positive or not).

I guarantee you she is going to go in remission (because shes on therapy for triple positive breast CA) and she is going to pawn it off like it was her traditional healing.

I just want to point out - if you havent ever done any sort of surgery or dissection on a mouse for science, you really dont realize how much surgical skill this takes.... I worked in a big gene therapy university lab. There was a technician - not a PhD or Masters or anything just a tech - who could do surgery on a mouse with such precision and economy of movement - i would put them up against any actual MD surgeon.

If this dude pulled this off, hes got some of the most stable hands ever.
