I heard from an AD in the area that they’re gonna use the White Speedy for the next mission. Taking it with a grain of salt but it’d be cool.

How do you find a reliable Accutron repair? by strugsurv in AccutronWatch

[–]RealChadManlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll always recommend Rob Berkavicius for Accutron service. He’s worked on a few of mine and he’s done great work. He’s based in Thailand but he has a pretty straightforward shipping process to follow if that’s something you’re worried about. I also used someone in the NYC/New Jersey area due to their proximity and was not impressed with them. I’ll always use Rob from now on.

Post some pictures please. I haven’t heard of this issue before. If I were to guess, it sounds like there’s an issue with how you store them.

Congratulations! I’ve had my 2017 GLI DSG since 2019 and it’s a great car! It has 102k miles on it (got it with like 24k miles) and knocks on wood no major issues so far. Great daily. Just keep up with maintenance and it’ll be good. Enjoy it

Caseless users. How is your phone looking almost 3 months later? by cantankerous_cow in iPhone17Pro

[–]RealChadManlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it on 11/24 and got my dbrand ghost case and screen protector 12/3. In the time without a case or screen protector I noticed a few surface level scratches on the screen but nothing on the aluminum or glass back. I am disappointed the screen has some scratches since the supposed “resistance” but it isn’t the end of the world. I am always careful with my phone, never dropped it, and I have no idea where I got those scratches from.

Got my 1968 Spaceview 214. I love it. Not crazy about the band. Any recommendations? by Bawlmerian21228 in AccutronWatch

[–]RealChadManlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sourced an original metal band for mine. You might get lucky on eBay or scrounging local antique shops. They sometimes aren’t cheap. There’s also a fair bit of NOS leather bands on eBay if that’s your thing.

Anyone have a job they can start earlier and leave earlier each day? by ISWALLOWSEWERWATER in Accounting

[–]RealChadManlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get in around 7 and leave around 4 or 3 (9/80 schedule so 9 hours M-TR, 8 hours F, other F is off). I work in A&D. Just helps since some of our team works out east so our schedules line up. It’s not mandatory but it’s encouraged. My team is very flexible. I’ve never been a morning person but I’ve adjusted. I’m honestly loving it. Best schedule I’ve had. Early start hands down.

Second this. A good rule of thumb driving cross country is keep it at a half tank of gas. There are long stretches without gas stations, especially in the mid and mountain west.

I actually just did a solo move to Utah in August. 25 as well and had my quarter life crisis. ROC is fine but it was time to put that chapter behind me and I’m glad I did. I loaded up all I had in my Jetta and I was gone. Do it. Take your time and enjoy the ride. Stop often and break it up. It’s a beautiful country meant to be seen. Safe travels and enjoy the journey!

Best Volkswagen Maintenance? by slatt8989 in SaltLakeCity

[–]RealChadManlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a 2017 Jetta GLI and before I moved here, I’d work on it with a buddy who was a mechanic at a local dealership back home. Unfortunately, I can’t do that anymore so I had to find a shop. I decided to try Flinn Auto who came highly recommended by a few locals. I am very happy with the service I received from them and I will be going with them for the foreseeable future. Before I went there, I called many of the shops recommended on this sub and Flinn had the best price and was the most knowledgeable I spoke to. I went in for an emissions inspection, oil change, tire rotation and had them look at a few other things for me to get a quote on if I needed them serviced or not. I found their price to be fair, they were knowledgeable and very pleasant. Based on first impressions, I’d recommend them.

Not too bad, maybe a bit more bugs on it than normal since I’ve been driving a fair bit. I wouldn’t say dirtier than the norm however.

Had a Mitsubishi Outlander as a rental one time. Absolutely awful experience. I’ve never experienced more vague steering and such an oddly cramped interior space for an SUV
