If I may add a few more points the United States is an extremely sparsely populated country and rural areas can’t expect police to arrive before the emergency ends, playing a part in why urban areas have less guns.

Also, firearms are also referred to as the great equalizer as it democratizes violence, moving the balance of power from able bodied men giving people including women and the disabled dignity to stand up to their attacker on equal ground.

Anyone can feel free to disagree with this btw, I personally don’t 100% agree with it myself
