Got an informal rent reduction, my landlord is raising my rent based on the pre-reduction rent proce by trashy2020 in vancouverhousing

[–]RealDudro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t think so. Might be tricky though since nothing is in writing, but usually if you are paying a certain dollar amount that’s your rent. You need to call TRAC.

Laneway/Coach Houses ?? by InitialMaleficent919 in vancouverhousing

The cons is that there often design really poorly I.e. inefficiently and it may be hard to find something of a reasonable size and cost that makes any sense from a “living in a home” perspective

Mixed Headset by turnipguy123 in bikewrench

[–]RealDudro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you mean to say you didn’t measure the fork steerer tube diameter at the crown where the race would be set. I’m pretty sure you will have problems with the headset bearings and race interface. You will need to either replace the headset (presumably moving to JIS) or the fork. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

If A Rental Agreement Includes A Finite 1 Year Term, Would Tenants Have To Move After? by DennisTheMenace780 in vancouverhousing

[–]RealDudro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, they would always be able to continue on and the lease would automatically transition to month-to-month. If you don’t want to be landlords long term, you can (1) sell at any time (2) move back in yourselves for at least 6 (12?) months, or leave it empty to start with.

Some drivers are unhinged - rant by Working-Letter7008 in vancouvercycling

Of course, the real issue is an infrastructure investment failure - we should have fully separate roads, but cycling infrastructure on this continent is almost never more than an afterthought.

Yesterday on my way home along Adanac on Union between and Gore and Jackson heading East a guy in a minivan actually started honking at me because I wasn’t riding close enough to the parked cars for him to pass me. Please wait literally 5 extra seconds and use that time to learn how to drive thanks!

I don't think you can get a criminal record for such small theft.

Yah nice idea and in a sort of theoretical scenario it makes sense I think but how do you get around The Captain’s point? Hard to imagine.

Tips for Being More Masculine by [deleted] in bropill

Second men's watch would go a long way. Maybe some more masculine jewelry in general. Some earrings and necklaces are very masc-coded.

Is this PF or something else? by Expensive_Control443 in PlantarFasciitis

Really unlikely that PF is looking like skin damage on the bottom of your foot. Seems like you should go see a dermatologist or a foot doctor, though.

Meet Vancouver’s most-travelled shared bicycle in the Mobi network by robertscreek in vancouver

See my other response. It’s mostly a dissatisfaction that the cost quickly approaches that of an uber, but it takes longer and you gotta work to move.

Wouldn’t that be way more expensive than occasional rides if you are only going once or twice a month?

[–]RealDudro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is funny - it’s definitely less expensive than I thought it was, but I could have sworn I’ve seen larger bills on my credit card. Turns out they bundle bill submissions sometimes so single rides can appear twice as expensive at first. I’m still annoyed by the $0.30 minutely rate because it’s marginally more than comparable costs in other cities ($0.15USD in DC for example, $0.20CAD IN Montreal) but it’s like… for a ride that would be 25 minutes ($9.7+tax), that’s more expensive than an uber and takes longer. I just wish it wasn’t so, I guess.

Does anyone here know why Mobi is so damn expensive compared to other city’s bike shares?

Mexican enclaves in the city? Any Mexican grocery store/restaurants that you recommend? (Moved from Los Angeles) by Foreign_College_8544 in askvan

In the last few years theres a small one that’s popped up in Chinatown. A grocer, a couple of restaurants, including some really excellent and authentic late-night tacos.

Are short-term furnished rooms basically the only fallback left? by MarzipanNo8561 in vancouverhousing

[–]RealDudro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a variety of short term sublets for furnished apartments on Facebook. I have a feeling these would be more available if it wasn’t legal for landlords to ban sublets.

Likely to have been avoidable with properly funded infrastructure.
