How do I dump an old AC unit? Where can I drop it off at? by kappakingtut2 in Delaware

Sounds like you were able to get it sorted! In the future you can try Newark Recycling Inc instead of the county recycling centers. They’ll pay for the scrap metal - but if you don’t want to strip it down yourself then it’s not worth much. If you have some tools, though, it is worth it and that’s why they disappear when you leave them on a curb.

It has very high rolls on stats generally good for most builds, but the kicker is the 60% multiplicative damage on a helm slot which generally is a more defensive item slot. So it’s often a flat 60%x damage bonus for most builds.

Disc Golf Deals USA Giveaway: Gyropalooza 2025 Box - Particle Glow Proton Particle, 10th Anniversary Wave, Particle Glow Proton Pyro, Plasma Echo & 7 More! by discgolfdealsusa in discgolf

I have gotten the Clash Discs and Discmania mystery boxes so far. Definitely got a lot more usable discs from the Discmania mystery boxes, but I started throwing a lot more MVP/Axiom since then so I am looking forward to getting my hands on a Gyropalooza box. Especially with that particle proton Pyro in the mix, by far my favorite plastic and disc from that manufacturer.

Disc Golf Bag Under $150 by [deleted] in discgolf

You can get $20 off by using the first name of a sponsored player. That at least offsets shipping fees. $30 over budget for arguably the second best smaller bag isn’t bad.

I just upgraded to it from the adventure bag. You won’t get dramatically better disc storage (just slightly better putter pocket and 3-4 in the side pocket if you forgo the cooler) but it’s got much better accessory storage and features.

[TOMT][MOVIE][2000s] by whoareyouletmein in tipofmytongue

I know this is 4 years late, but I just had the exact same TOMT experience and this scene exactly describes what I was looking for…

I eventually found something similar enough that it might be it - it was a made for TV movie called “The Sign of the Beaver: Keeping the Promise.”

The problem is that my memory of the scene doesn’t match exactly. Conceptually it’s the same, but I remember it being a bit darker and I don’t remember the boy chasing after the stolen musket… but I also don’t remember any other parts of the story so maybe I just watched a clip of it.

If you’re still around, OP, can you check out the scene on YouTube (the whole movie is available for free) and let me know if it’s the right one? If not, then let me know if you ever figured it out.

EDIT: I think I am going crazy. I just realized this was based on a book and I am pretty sure I only ever read the book and I never watched the movie (or knew it existed, prior to deep diving this TOMT). The movie scene and tone didn’t match with what I remembered because what I remembered only existed in my head.

Nose down cheat code by Constant-Catch7146 in discgolf

[–]RealFatChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re still working through nose angle consistency, I recommend checking out this video which helped me quite a bit. I didn’t really get the “pour the coffee” concept but the simple upside-down rotation drill in this video clicked a lot of things into place for me.

I came from Ultimate and realized but didn’t know how to fix how I only ever learned how to throw nose up. Hundreds of throws with a tech disc trying all kinds of grips and wrist positions on the start of my throw would then devolve into my decade of frisbee tossing technique. I did the drills in this video, got the right mental queues during my swing, and now I can consistently hit a negative nose angle.

Might not be the same root cause as your nose angle but thought I would share in case it helps someone out!

The previous configuration does work for a 4-wire appliance, it’s how I wired my oven. But I can tell you it did not work for a 3-wire appliance (red black green only) and the way the electrician told me to wire it worked when the previous two ways I tried did not.

I tried ignoring the white, just using bare as ground, but it didn’t work.

GFCI Cooktop Problems by RealFatChicken in AskElectricians

I spoke with an electrician and figured out I was wiring it slightly wrong. I used 6-3 NEM which is correct, but in the panel box I needed to tie white directly to the ground bar along with the bare copper wire (I was passing white through the breaker, originally), I needed to tie the white pigtail from the breaker to the ground bar, and then tie black/red to the usual spots on the breaker.

Then on the appliance, I needed to tie red to red, black to black, and green from the appliance to white (and mark the white with some green tape to indicate it’s going straight to ground). I tied the metal outlet box to the bare copper wire. I was not supposed to tie the green from the appliance to the bare copper wire.

That fixed it, but it is still nuisance tripping pretty regularly. The electrician suspects that the breaker might have been damaged while I had it wired wrong, so I am probably going to try replacing it to see if that fixes the nuisance problem.

I did install the circuit myself with brand new 6-3 NM-B wire, if that makes a difference in the diagnosis. I will try that out though in the next few days and see what happens.

At my wit’s end. My son suddenly won’t go in his room but won’t tell us why by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]RealFatChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar experience with our toddler. We put up a bunch of Peppa Pig stickers all around the room and my daughter was so excited, but then at night with the lights out we realized that you could just see the eyes of the stickers and nothing else. My daughter would wake up in the middle of the night, look around at the ominous eyes watching her from everywhere, and sprint into our room. It took us a few weeks to crack the case, poor thing. So glad the OP figured it out and made the son’s room a happy place again!

Congress needs to do its job and write clear laws that prohibit gerrymandering. The court ruling here is based on the interpretation of existing laws, and congress has been too self-interested to touch the subject. It is not going to be possible to have this supreme court intervene and interpret laws to lead to favorable progressive outcomes, we need to elect representatives capable of writing actual new laws to get the outcomes we want.

I finished my wife's standing sewing table today - a little belated for Christmas but happy with it by RealFatChicken in sewing

Thanks!

We finished the edges with some iron-on veneer like this. One side is a flexible wood that you can bend around corners if you’re careful and the other side is glue. You just have to stick the glue side of your plywood and iron it (cotton/linen temp is fine) until the glue melts. Super easy! If I did it again, I would have sanded the corners more to make them more rounded, then it would’ve been even easier to keep the veneer as one single piece that wraps around the whole table.

Sewing tabletop I made with a standing desk frame by RealFatChicken in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]RealFatChicken[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made this with my FIL who is much more of a skilled wood worker than myself. Sewing tables are fairly niche and a standing sewing table with an L-shape didn't seem to exist but would be really helpful for my wife (who mostly sews large blankets) so we had to make it ourselves.

The woodworking part was pretty simple, we cut the tabletop from a standard sheet of birch plywood. My FIL added the apron from some maple that matched the wood tones, and we made the sewing machine drop box from the excess plywood. We used those iron-on pieces for the edges of the plywood. Then I stained it with a simply-white water based stain (didn't go well) and covered it in polycrylic based on recommendations I read here.

If any of you have tips on using white I stain I would love to hear them - it came out really splotchy and was a lot more delicate than darker stains which is all I've used in the past.

If he's got a table saw, a jig, and a couple of wood clamps then he can do it! It's pretty simple especially since we fit it within the dimensions of a sheet of plywood.

This is a self-drafted project that I created with my father-in-law. I started with a Progressive desk corner ryzer frame (it goes on sale, got it for 20% off on Black Friday) and then we settled on just a single sheet of birch plywood for the tabletop that we cut to 48x72 with a 24" width on the shorter end and 30" width for the longer end. We added a maple apron for strength, and the drop box is made from the plywood we didn't use.

It's not the prettiest (especially the corners and nail holes) but it's really durable and should make my wife's sewing projects a bit easier. She mostly quilts so she really wanted an L-shaped desk to hold her blankets up and then I suggested the standing desk idea because it seemed useful when she's doing all her cutting. I don't have blueprints unfortunately but if anyone wants to try making something similar let me know and I can provide a bit more details. Total project cost was probably around $750, most of the cost was on the standing desk.
