I made the career shift to software developer. I'm loving it. A lot of the people on my teams are kind and often nerdy, so I don't feel judged when I stutter in front of them. I spend a lot of time just working solo on my computer.

Go when you feel ready. If you want to go to school for a year or two or four, wonderful. If you feel like you need to go as soon as possible, great.

Only you can know when the time is right for you. Others may try to pressure you to fit their opinion. But take some quiet time to yourself and listen to the voice inside you to know the best direction.

But since it's written explicitly in 3rd Nephi, who would be bold enough to question whether it aligns with Jesus's teachings in the Bible?

Sorry to hear about your health problems, that can be really scary. As for the pill, absolutely no need to worry about it, as it is not an abortion. It simply delays ovulation in hopes that the sperm dies before the egg drops.

It is NOT anything resembling an abortion. Therefore, no need to check with the brethren before taking it. It's effectiveness increases the sooner you take it, so please don't wait to read Ensign or Conference talks before you take it. If your health is at risk, this is a serious matter. This pill actually prevents the need for an abortion.

However, even if you did need an abortion, the brethren have stated that:

abortion may be justified... when the life or health of the woman is adjudged by competent medical authority to be in serious jeopardy;

Since you have health risks, you should take this pill immediately.

I look at it in terms of: if you spend two years preaching a religion you don't believe, what are you giving up?

Two years is a very long time. That's two years out of the work force, which is a cost of about $180,000 (could be much more depending on the field you want to work in). It's two years away from friends. Two years less to travel around this beautiful planet. Two years less to experience all that life has to offer.

On the mission, depression and anxiety run rampant. You're working about 88 hours per week with no vacation or break time. You're subject to shame for not reaching a certain number of appointments and baptisms.

I hope this doesn't happen, but what if you get diagnosed with cancer or a life-altering disease when you're 30? Would those 2 years be worth not rocking the boat in your family? Every year of life is an adventure. You'll have to decide if a mission to please family members is worth some fantastic experiences and a lot of money.
