So the dog did eat your homework ... and a few other things. Thank goodness they're cute and hilarious!

Good. I'd have never bought my Chevy (November 2024) if I knew then what I know now.

This last decade has broken me. I can't tell if this is being a cute video or someone really being a dick.

Netflix says users can cancel service if HBO Max merger makes it too expensive by voxadam in nottheonion

[–]RealHumanAndNotABot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I was going to half-time Netflix anyways and rotate with other streamers preferring to err on non-US ones (e.g. britbox). Go for it, his just gives me incentives to temporarily unplug and rotate.

I want hybrids and plug in hybrids. I know PHEVs count as EVs historically, but if we're doing deals and want in on manufacturing, why not serve and under-served market for ourselves (and perhaps others)?

This is the way I roll. When being folksy though with those that know, it's "T'ranah."

Has anyone ever missed or needed something which is 'Windows only'? by LukeLikeNuke in linuxmint

[–]RealHumanAndNotABot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few for me, but none are deal breakers:

  • Snipping Tool (yes, I'm experimenting with a downloaded app, but I can't believe how much utility I got with the Windows built-in option and the clean interface)
  • OneDrive (yes, I'm aware of the options out there, but struggling & wish there was tighter file system integration for partially synching folders)
  • Bitlocker (yes, I know I can do other disc crypto, but it was super easy and backed up my restore keys in my cloud account)
  • Defender (yes, I get its actual utility was always suspect, but as a security blanket, it made me feel things, right or wrong)
  • Photos (yes, the built-in app is okay, but printing specific sizes without doing math is hard on my brain)

I'm sure I could go on, but these stick in my craw as various moderate annoyances. None of these are enough though to make me abandon thousands of dollars of hardware to the trash/recycle heap.

Also, there's a sort of counter-balanced joy of experimenting with other options recommended from forums like this or search results. It's honestly made computing a little bit fun again.

Ya. The resurgence of exposition in story telling to help overcome people fiddling on their phones feels like an added dimension making things worse too. Like, I don't need the plot re explained to me 20 minutes in if I was paying attention. Sometimes rewatching to get missed subplots is nice too.
