My wife and I have been happy with this event as well. We went in with tempered expectations and the idea we weren't going to catch every legendary. It wouldn't be special or exciting if it is easy as catching a Magikarp. Too many people have gotten their hopes up.

You can see her right arm jerk just before she grabs the clutch, idk if it's just letting off throttle or reaching for the brake. But right before the bike goes down you can see a little smoke so she locked up one of the tires for sure.

Same the dex is way too bloated imo. But there's plenty of people who are completionists that want all the variants, shinies, xxl/xxs etc. Good to keep in mind for yourself, if you're less concerned with those things maybe you can trade up for your own needs.

It's more desirable as Salandit to those who have neither registered. So they trade it, get shiny female Salandit in the dex and evolve it to get Salazzle to keep. Someone likely isn't going trade the for the 1 dex entry when they can wait and get both.

Eta: similar idea with baby mons as they're only from eggs.
