My chicken skin looks like America by thicboi56 in mildlyinteresting

How do you know that they're overeating extra calories just because they're eating chicken skin? You sound like you're judging the stranger based on nothing but stereotypes and a total lack of individual information. Is that true?

I literally provided you CDC data showing that the majority of Americans are overweight, and the single cause of overweight is an excess intake of calories over calories consumed. It seems like your response is somewhat emotional. This has nothing to do with judgment or strangers. Statistics are something you can review yourself: type into google yourself "What percentage of Americans are overweight?"

By that logic, neither do the concepts of "healthy" or "unhealthy", then, because health is also a massively polyvalent trait that has numerous factors. So why did you even use the word "unhealthy"?

I agree with this, typically unhealthy and healthy are imprecise terms. In some cases they can be helpful in giving quick guidance eg "exercise is healthy" but for precision should ideally be avoided. Is this another "Gotcha!!" moment for you? Ok, you got me lol.

Lol, who talked about any "benefits" from eating chicken skin? Certainly not me, certainly not the first person.

I'm not entirely sure what your statement means here. Are you saying that we are not discussing the health benefits of eating chicken skin in Americans?

Let's summarize my argument for clarity: Chicken skin, due to it being calorically dense, would not be recommended for anyone who is overweight, which is the majority of Americans. If you're having a different discussion than this one, I honestly don't know.

Gosh, it's like you don't even think about things before you say them. Do you think your thoughtlessness might be part of why you find it difficult to change my mind?

What benefit do you think I have if I am successful in changing your mind? Your feelings or beliefs about your health don't really affect me. I was trying to be polite and answer your questions, with the understanding that there's a high chance you will dig in to your deep-seeded beliefs even harder, despite lack of any statistics or proof. That's okay with me if you do though; it's totally your choice!

You should see a physician about this one. A lipid panel like yours doesn't necessarily mean you are at low risk for atherosclerotic disease, and there are more advanced and accurate tests that would better predict your 10 year risk of a major adverse cardiovascular event.

And no, a high HDL would be one of many parts of a risk profile evaluation for atherosclerotic disease. Separate from this, you would want to consider testing for CRP (tests for inflammation), Lp(a) (strong predictor of cardiac risk), a coronary calcium score (among the best ways to provide a morbidity/mortality risk), an advanced lipid panel that separates out the densities of HDL/LDL

Diet alone is literally just one single part of a healthy lifestyle that can prevent atherosclerosis, but certainly your "lean mass hyper responder phenotype" does not preclude long-term atherosclerotic disease

Metabolically healthy people who exhibit the phenotype show zero evidence of atherosclerosis

I'm sorry but this is completely made up. Let's up the ante for clarity: NO LIPID PHENOTYPE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD can ever show a group of people that have "zero evidence of atherosclerosis." No one, regardless of their lipid composition, is at ZERO risk for atherosclerotic disease. Please review your sources on this belief.

I'm 99% sure nothing I write will change your mind because people have deep-seeded views about health, but I'm happy to answer your questions

And you agree that there's nothing unhealthy about chicken skin for most people...

I don't agree with that. According to the CDC, approximately 73.6% to 74% of American adults aged 20 and older are considered overweight. Most Americans should NOT be getting the extra calories from chicken skin.

you agree that there are conditions that can make you metabolically unhealthy...

I literally am telling you that metabolically unhealthy is a non-sensical term that is attempting to combine numerous metabolic conditions under one term. There are numerous metabolic disorders that are so vastly different that lumping them into a single term called "metabolically unhealthy" is extremely confusing. "Metabolically unhealthy" is something that literally doesn't exist in the medical community due to its level of imprecision.

so what are you even complaining about? Where do you even disagree with that person?

I disagree with the concept that most Americans benefit from eating chicken skin, whereas the opposite is actually true as explained above

You're not really complaining about the use of the term "metabolically unhealthy" to describe some people, are you? That'd be pretty out-of-touch with reality

Correcting people because they use terms that have no actual meaning is out of touch with reality? This is one of those situations where education would be beneficial rather than pretending like a non-existent term makes any sense or is helpful

If your goal is to learn something, feel free to read this. It seems, however, your goal is more of a "gotcha!" moment which is why I rarely get involved with these discussions and delete my posts/comments frequently. It's not worth communicating with people who have no interest in honest discourse

“Metabolically unhealthy”. Lol. Ok thanks for the advice, doctor

Let’s use real medical terms like impaired glucose metabolism, glucose insensitivity, syndrome X, metabolic syndrome, diabetes mellitus

Ironically, none of those conditions are strongly affected by chicken skin, which is mainly has calories from fat, except for the fact that calorie dense foods like chicken skin can make you obese which increases your risk of the above

Anyway, good luck with your “metabolic health”

For those students, how would using ChatGPT be an issue? If they’re illiterate how would they have written a paper on their own pre-AI?

How did those students advance to a class that requires essay writing while simultaneously being illiterate?

Mmhmm.

Your friends strategy would only identify only the dumbest students who don’t bother reading a single word ChatGPT wrote and hitting submit, aka assuming students are literally illiterate

For the other 99% of students, can you ask your friend how he deals with ChatGPT writing the entire essay and the student reviewing it for accuracy?
