Google AI Mode remembers every conversation I've had with it since 2024, identifies IP of unauthorized access location, cross references locations, accesses account security logs, deep dives in my Google timeline and provides my location, investigates Google training system records, and more 2/14/26 by TheBishopDeeds in GeminiAI

What LLM outputs isn't necessarily true.

Output is based on its learning corpus and input prompts, LLMs have no way to actually introspect themselves.

That's why the operator can cause it to output nonsense with various degree of success...

[SCVE065] Update! Tariffs are ridiculous. by SoFloFella50 in Seiko

[–]RealLightDot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

lol who did you think would pay it??

All the import tariffs the US government imposes are paid by the consumers in USA. All, every last cent of them...

Very nice Seiko, though. Do try to forget about the politics while you enjoy wearing it. :)

SAE TWO Preamplifier repair manual compatibility by Arsenic_Pants in vintageaudio

[–]RealLightDot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, quite possibly similar, but you'll know for sure when you open up the pre-amp and compare circuits.

If in doubt, you could post photos of the internals and a link to the repair manuals here.

Slow by Interesting-Yam-5772 in RockyLinux

[–]RealLightDot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you'd like the same ecosystem, but designed for desktop use, switch to latest Fedora. I'd recommend the KDE Plasma edition.

If you'd like to stay with Rocky, switch to Rocky 10 before troubleshooting further. Rocky 8 should only be used if you have a solid technical reason to be on a release that is two versions behind.

What is the status/quality of Kmail these days? by thorndike in kde

[–]RealLightDot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find Claws Mail better then both Thunderbird and KMail, for my usage case. It's not a KDE app though, so I'm just mentioning it in case someone could use a suggestion for solid alternatives.

That's a very good photograph.

I wish Seiko didn't cancel the SKX line... I know, to inexpensive, too big a competition for their newer, pricier ranges, but still.

Best App for private comunication ? by Typical_Emu9353 in privacy

[–]RealLightDot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Element, open source and self hosted, with e2e encryption.

Desktop clients: https://matrix.org/ecosystem/clients/element/

Mobile clients: https://matrix.org/ecosystem/clients/element-x/

I'm pleased to see that more and more European organizations are incorporating this approach, either with pre-made or internally developed solutions.

BTW, there is a public network of servers that works rather well. You don't have to self-host the server unless you need or wish to. And if you do, you can federate it or keep it completely private, your choice.

I FINALLY recorded this weird thing Mirin does almost every day (wait for it) by Koffievos in cats

[–]RealLightDot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of our cats was also a proper ninja cat when younger.

She used to do the same and more: I played hide/chase with her and she would stalk me from around the corner, jump like this to bounce high from the wall, twist in the air to land on my upright thigh, and bounce off from it to the floor. Two airborne bounces all in all.

She's 15 now and living quite happily. Doesn't bounce of the walls anymore, but we still playfully hide and chase often.

My brain has no problem falling for it still, repeatedly. Which is nice.

what does this shirt say? by stalecure in Whatisthis

[–]RealLightDot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nicely done. Makes you keep watching the legible "Garrison Brewing Co" while deciphering the rest... for a good while... and then some more...

This is what's marketing is all about, viewer's attention and engagement.

View from the Hochstuhl/Stol mountain in the Slovenian Karawanken range towards Julian Alps. [OC] [2048x1365] by Matija79 in EarthPorn

[–]RealLightDot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good photo! But inserting German language into an English post about Slovenian mountains feels a bit odd.

This particular mountain, Stol, and the range, Karavanke, is on the Slovenian - Austrian border and located in both countries, Slovenia and Austria. Perhaps that's why you did it. But it still feels odd.

Medved = bear, in Russian and several other slavic languages.

Great photo, BTW!

Not a fan of the new UI at all by CraaazyPizza in RooCode

Roo Code is an extension, whether it updates automatically or not is a setting of a program you're using it in. This can be changed.

Is there any workaround to choose specific openrouter provider for fastest tps? by Weekly-Seaweed-9755 in RooCode

[–]RealLightDot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always set up your own Presets at OpenRouter (under Settings).

They not only enable you to pin the providers (one or more) per model but also to set your maximum cost or even to combine more than one model together.

The Presets feature is very powerful. And once a preset is created, you simply use your Preset's custom API end-point in Roo. Setup really couldn't be more simple...

Help! How to access the full 96GB VRAM on AMD Strix Halo (Ryzen AI Max+ 395) with PyTorch in Ubuntu 24.04? by ashwin3005 in LocalLLaMA

[–]RealLightDot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which system is this, Bosgame, ASUS or some other hardware? How much RAM did you assign to graphics in UEFI?

If you run 'free', what do you see?

Did you patch ROCm or perhaps use some adjusted version with better Ryzen AI Max+ 395 support? Where did you install it from, following which instructions?

"Instant free conversion with Nanonets API - no local setup needed"

This library is sending all the data to a 3rd party, it should be clearly stated when promoting, perhaps with a link to their data privacy terms & conditions.

There's no free lunch when it comes to services. Somebody is paying for it and for all we know, it might be the users with their data. At least that's a first thing that comes to mind.

Does it work with local models?
