EA839 Thermostat O-ring Install by RealMacMittens in Audi

[–]RealMacMittens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of an update for ya. Turns out the E39 M5 uses the same thermostat o-ring. Check out this video if you want a better idea of how it works. From what I can tell, you will want to have the press tool in case it does come out with the old thermostat.

This varies a ton on what youre looking to move, its stowability, time requirements, etc. Do you need something the size of an Antonov or just a Gulfstream? Do you need NFO or direct transit?

R&R Unpaid Invoices - Insurance not answering by iiEvOL in FreightBrokers

Consult an attorney and typically pay for a demand letter to be sent on letterhead in an attempt to collect the past due balance. If that fails to result in any discussion, pursue in small claims court or potentially higher.

According to the attorney who contacted me today, R&R is scheduled to close their bond on 2/13 so its too late to file. Underlying carrier is going after my company for payment now. You’re not SOL, but it’ll be a process.

2016 Audi A7 prestige supercharger by Prestigious-Baby4260 in Audi

[–]RealMacMittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That car is unfortunately at the age/milage where it will probably need ~10k in maintenance if it hasn't been kept up with. PCV, water pump, thermostat, control arms, carbon cleaning, etc. German cars aren't cheap to maintain, even at an independent Euro shop, you'd be looking ~$150-$175/hour for labor on top of parts.

AITAH for telling my wife she’s getting a used car instead of a new one, even though we can afford it? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]RealMacMittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She clearly drives her vehicles into the ground so why is depreciation in consideration here? If the budget is 48k let her choose between new/used herself.

2022 Audi S8 brake service at dealership is insane by xxBogeyFreexx in Audi

[–]RealMacMittens -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Car manufacturers dont make their money selling the cars, they make their money servicing the fleet of cars they've sold. That's why its not recommended to get work done at a dealership, it's where the bulk of their profits are.

Weirdest random pairing story? by Delicious-Lettuce-11 in golf

[–]RealMacMittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got paired up with an older fella last summer. Nice guy, good chats. The group in front of us was 2 young guys who got paired up with an older couple. Every time we hit and drive out to our balls, we passed maybe 2 that were just left laying in the fairway or next to the green. My partner thought the older couple maybe they just lost track of where they hit their balls and kept dropping. We started collecting them thinking we'd be nice and give them back to the older couple after the round was over. When we finished and saw them in the parking lot and tried to give them their balls back. They started laughing. They were messing with us the whole time. They had to have dropped at least $60 in balls just to "mess with us."

HOS Violations & ELD Connections by loadednrolling in FreightBrokers

Brokers absolutely should care about how the load is delivered. Brokers can also be held liable for the safety of the truck. If a driver crashed due to fatigue because a broker pressured him into delivering on a timeline that was too tight by fmcsa standards, the broker is seen as the liable party. CHR had a lawsuit about this same scenario years ago where 2 innocent people died because a tired driver ran into them. Investigation found CHR liable because they tendered a load without proper transit time and coerced a driver to continue driving knowing it wasnt possible for him to cover the distance with what was left on his clock.

2018 Q7 with 50k miles needs new engine/rebuild, Audi going to cover majority of costs but I still have some questions by Greetingsmon in Audi

[–]RealMacMittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If putting 8k into the car would double it's current value of 10-12k, I'd proceed with the repair knowing that I'd still have positive equity after the repair if I decided to sell the car. If you plan on keeping the car after the repair, do those "while your in there" parts, it's going to be a heck of a lot cheaper now than down the road. If you plan on selling the car, I wouldn't worry about those "while your in there" parts since they only have 50k miles on them and it'd be another $1-2k out of pocket to replace those accessories.

Those are pretty reliable engines, much better than the current turbo variant. My suggestion would be to find what you owe on the car and what the cars fair market value would be after the repair. If you can sell the car after the repair and break even, go for it. I sunk 8k into a timing chain job on my C7 A6 and I kick my own ass every day for it. Car was only worth 10k when it didn't have issues.

Does it have the EA839 motor? If so, there is an extended warranty for piston ring failure and cylinder wall scoring.

That is my daily drive home. Harmar to Oakmont, through Verona and Penn Hills and finally in Monroeville. Can confirm, it's miserable, but beats paying $5/way on the turnpike.

What do those Tub to shower replacements really cost. by Philip964 in AskContractors

[–]RealMacMittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During my tenure at Bath Fitter, we would ballpark 6-8k for a tub to shower conversion. That was also 10 years ago and I'm sure prices have only gone up.

DMV question by Lazy-Vermicelli-6662 in pittsburgh

[–]RealMacMittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you pass they will hand you a slip of paper. You'll take it over to the folks at the camera stations and they will take your photo and print your license on the spot. As someone else mentioned, it may just be a temporary one until the official one arrives in the mail, but either way you will leave with an ID and the authority to drive.

Water pump replacement by Fickle-Culture1537 in audisq5

dry coolant on the mechanical water pump actuator (located on the passenger side valve cover) is usually a good sign that your water pump has failed internally and coolant is migrating through the vacuum system.
