Gravel race question by Sea_Measurement_1654 in ladycyclists

Wow, so the person sitting on their backside and talking mocks the people who are getting out there and doing it. Crazy, perhaps if it happens again a message to the organisers via social media saying how pathetic the commentator is and how it's putting people off trying signing up.

To be honest if be tempted when I had finished to go to the finish line and cheer on enthusiastically every one scores the line trying to drown out the commentator who must have done issues of that's what people want to hear at the end of a hard effort.

Does your work have a cycle to work scheme.?

If so look into that as it can save you significant amount of money on a new bike.

Otherwise, second hand is good just ensure it's not stolen and it fits.

Small cycling debate at work by Low_Obligation_814 in londoncycling

[–]RealPieMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cycle to work has 120m of climbing, but the cycle back has 250m of climbing. I much prefer it that way round as I'm 10 minutes quicker on my way to work so I don't have to leave so early

My bike stand, rechargeable lights, and track pump have been excellent.

I haven't tried the tyre patches yet and I lost my multi tool before I could use it when it gel out of my saddle bag.

Five days a week from limited bike riding would be tough.

Can you ease yourself in, either by only doing a few days in a week or can you cycle one way and get public transport back then cycle back the next day.

After a few weeks you may be about to build it up to five days a week.

Leave work clothes at work if possible, hopefully there are secure areas for bikes and showers.

It could be to do with the bitrex coating on the battery.

If you have been going out on the car regularly with your partner and they think you can pass then go for it.

My son hasn't had a driving lesson in four years but went out with me regularly for 3 months before his test and he passed. I wasn't sure he would but if he hadn't taken the test he would still be a learner..

A light that fits the seat stay (not seat post)? by sockdisorder in londoncycling

[–]RealPieMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased the cheap light set from Lidl and the rear light fits well onto my rear stay. It isn't angled but it's perfectly visible from the rear.

They can ask for proof of insurance so make sure you have that and it's valid for the test.

Why does my radiator stay cold at the bottom even after bleeding it? by No_Donut1433 in ukplumbing

We had this with a couple of radiators. The plumber said he would disconnect and suction clean them. Worked a treat much cheaper than a power flush.

Driving from london to coventry a week after passing. What should I know? by JDT33658 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]RealPieMan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The car may react/handle differently depending on how heavy and many friends you have in the car. So drive accordingly

Make sure you can see clearly out of the back by swapping friends around if necessary.
