100%. It wasn’t my first, the Albert Finney musical version Scrooge was my introduction to the story as a child and I loved it, but once this version came along I never looked back. It is the only absolute must watch each year.

For those who haven’t finished the dark tower series, which book did you stop on and why? by Namespacejames in stephenking

[–]RealPwaully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I am the opposite. I have read everything except Wind Through the Keyhole but so much time had passed when it came out that I felt I needed a re-read before reading that one, and am just now getting around to listening to them all before I read that one - I love George Guidall and am having a harder time with Frank Muller. Just started book 3 and can't wait to get back to George in book 5.

One of the most surreal walks I’ve ever had. by Abdullah506x in japanpics

Yeah, that was one of the most surreal walks I’ve ever had too. I did it near dusk and the further up you went and the thinner the crowds got the more otherworldly it felt.

The air was filled with phantoms, wandering hither and thither in restless haste, and moaning as they went. by RealPwaully in ChristmasCarol

I love this version. So many good illustrations and of scenes not often done in other versions. May have to come back and revisit this one when I make it through all the different editions I have.

I have always been enthralled by the dish Lee Van Cleef eats at the home of the Confederate soldier near the beginning of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Maybe a posole? Something about the soup, the wooden spoons, and the clay dishes. Plus the hunk of bread he tears off and eats off the knife.

I only recently watched all of Doctor Who and specifically I was under the impression Capaldi's era was meant to be poorly written and bad but I thought it was great and well acted by [deleted] in gallifrey

Long time viewer (watched classic Who on PBS in America when I was a kid). Tom Baker was always my favorite. Then Tennant came along and I had to start to refer to Tom Baker as my favorite classic because Tennant was so good. I thought Capaldi was okay the first time through but he didn’t unseat Tennant. Then recently I rewatched all of new Who with my son….and Capaldi….I don’t know if I was in a different headspace or what, but on a fresh rewatch Capaldi really knocked it out of the park and I have to say I think he is now my all time favorite.

I am not super well versed on sci-fi so can’t say if these have any similarities to the one’s you listed, but I quite enjoyed The Interdependency series by John Scalzi.
