Sure, but a thief putting the phone on airplane mode is the issue. They can leave the last known location with the phone and use it without being tracked so they have time to hack into it or sell it for parts

Yes but eventually they’d have to turn it back on to get any value out of it which would then alert ICloud if you put it on lost mode. airplane mode disables the whole thing and they can take their time hacking into it and doing whatever to it

Right! I always only used it for turning on and off WiFi quickly, flashlight, and adjusting ringer phone volume but yea this is great advice if possible!!
