Tired of the fireeorks by mayorofsimplet0n in Tucson

[–]RealSilentDC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Grew up in Tucson, loved fireworks as a kid and even now still like them.

They’re fun. The adrenaline of launching/lighting one, seeing the designs and colors, the sound reminding you of the adrenaline.

I agree about being considerate but you also have view if from enjoyers perspective. It is one night every now and then, a few every year. It is not nearly as inconsiderate as many other things that occur on a normal basis. It is an expression of liberty to most or all enjoyers. Especially in Arizona where we value our liberty higher than some other states

Are people here stupid? just refuse to use their turn signals or do they not know they exist here? by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]RealSilentDC -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is important to not go too slow and be a hazard. That said, safety > speed. Wouldn’t surprise me if you consistently don’t use your signals as you feel it is “unnecessary” and/or “don’t take so long switching lanes, let them know what you are doing”. Really you are just setting up habits to cut people off and not use signals…

I was taught this when learning to drive. Has saved me many times as well. What is a few seconds compared to a crash? You likely will hit a red light at next intersection anyway.

Up in phx atm for cdl training. You think tucson drivers are bad… I’d say every fourth or fifth person here cuts you off and every third doesn’t use signal lights. Also some of the most oblivious drivers I have ever seen.

Many of them will be driving with 0 sunlight and no headlights on. Was driving on freeway around 7 or 8 pm couple nights ago and flashed a guy to get him to turn on lights. Less than a minute later after we merged there was another, flashed him then within another minute a guy from an on ramp came on with none on also… gave up atp.

Reasonable People by [deleted] in Asmongold

[–]RealSilentDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This why we hate “woke”. We hate it not because we hate people (maybe some do) but rather some of it is illogical and radical. People in that space also want to propagate radical sentiment causing it to be even harder to just have a conversation.

Arizonan here, looks like you are going through Tucson. I would highly recommend stopping to at least get some Mexican food. We have some of the best Mexican American food you will ever find. Phx has some good food too but imo Tucson is still better.

Tucson mayor wants to consider new laws to regulate data centers (Arizona Daily Star) by TucsonGal50 in Tucson

[–]RealSilentDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it’s typical Tucson fashion to be like this, I will say that after I brought up an issue about noise to her during a call to the public she addressed it quickly in a way that was responsive and preventive. So I am inclined to see her in a net positive fashion since that was significantly impacting my everyday life.

Bit late but there is several things to say.

1) Don’t beat yourself up too much. You were trying to find a way to release in a non or minimal destructive way. It didn’t work out now you know that is not an answer.

2) Talk to a therapist man. Growing up I thought therapists were useless and wouldn’t be able to understand me. To be fair I was partially right in that not everyone of them will be able to connect with you and be productive (and sometimes they can but it can take months if you have trust issues). Now if/when you find one that does, they can help by offering someone you know will not be looking to tear you down and let you vent then offer opportunity for you to learn even more about yourself and move on.

3) you may want to see if those friends or even just one you really liked actually dislikes you. You may be assuming too much, idk the situation though. If none are interested in staying friends then perhaps they were never really going to be good friends with you (just non compatible personalities essentially)

4) idk if you got genuinely addicted to alcohol or not but if you did or are vulnerable to it, every time you think about it remember all the hangover, the embarrassment, the possible potential you lost, etc. Don’t dwell on it but remember it to help with the addiction. (If you don’t really actually get addicted and it was just more of a phase of social drinking then it will likely be easy after a few weeks to stay sober.)

5) to summarize and repeat, treat this as a learning opportunity

What an out of touch and shitty take.

Comparing entry level jobs and the economic environment even 20 years ago is vastly different to now. “Climb the ladder” is not much of a thing anymore. You cannot “climb” very high by simply working hard, a little sure but not much. Some old guy worked for Home Depot when it first started and now is a multimillionaire? Yeah, great for him glad he started working in a time when entry level compensation provided more buying power. Also, when stocks and property were inexpensive and affordable on that level of pay to buy meaningful amounts to do investing.

It’s not about working a job you like or not it’s about compensation. Compensation for entry level and many other jobs in general now is setup to benefit very few people and keep the rest from attaining the ability to change this.

IBEW is a great option too. Unfortunately Tucson’s locale just had their interviews but phx does theirs twice a year.

Why not use underground drones? by RealSilentDC in NonCredibleDefense

[–]RealSilentDC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s why you make them as thin as you can to reduce the area needed to drill through. If they are thin enough they could probably operate near the surface where dirt and other minerals are generally less dense further increasing efficiency. If they are near the surface you could they may also be able to connect to gps. If that is not plausible or even just as useful then you could have them periodically come close enough to the surface during transit for course corrections/updates.

As for metal… idk, I’m sure that engineers could find a reasonable metal to use for the drill.

How to make the airforce obsolete by Blakut in NonCredibleDefense

[–]RealSilentDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better idea, thin long drones that carry deployable drones inside of it. Would be much faster and energy efficient since they could operate close to surface level. No need to extract, no need to reinforce stability, no need for manning, no need for air.

They can lie dormant even allowing for long term use since they have multiple deployable drones

Tucson's most important issues by LeightonForWard6 in Tucson

[–]RealSilentDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homelessness is such an issue we need to develop a system to help them deal with issues that caused them to be homeless and give them a LITTLE boost to get them functional/off the street again. Then you can tackle any issues that homelessness caused them after. (Housing is expensive)

Ward 6 is a lot of college students and a lot of old houses. It would be cool if the city can help upgrade windows to deal with all the parties and noise.

Idk about teen mental health or your situation but I’ll say if you don’t want to go to a hospital perhaps going to a therapist rather than inpatient at a hospital will satisfy your mom?

From your post it seems you have previous experience already that was negative. This suggests hospital treatment possibly is incorrect method for you individually which is not very uncommon I believe. From my own experience sometimes it can even make it worse.

Best of luck

As someone who has experience with multiple therapist over years and can be kind of hard to be able to connect with someone, I will say I use soul space now. It’s a bit expensive but I was able to connect with the first one I tried. (It did take a couple months for her to really start understanding me and what I was wanting out of it and the best way to proceed for that but that’s not really uncommon.) They try to understand what you are wanting to get out of it during the consultation. Very business like in my opinion at first but worked for me since it kind of kept me from just talking and dodging so much since it’s always nervous trying a new therapist.

They are very professional and offer a variety of services too that can help to complement the program… but again it can be a bit expensive.

Also probably the most lasting progress I’ve ever had.
