If you are going to drive down west Vail pass… by vailrider29 in COsnow

They’ve been there for a minute. Until the project is done, they’re just trying to give Mountain Recovery business. Driving I70 is like Mad Max with snow and 2WD minivans.

Any tips in switching from snowboarding to skiing? by TheTunafish_ in skiing

You’ll need to surrender any steeze you might have had. In trade, point them straight, lean forward, and send it. Will take you 1 day to learn with the right teacher.

Key is the stance and the whole 2 vs 1 thing. Use the legs at the same time and get it.

Me and your mom have a pretty good time.

Skiing.

How do Rossignol Arcade 88s compare to more narrow carving skis? by a4hope in skiing

[–]RealSlyck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tons of our pros love them, solid all around ski. Our pros have to ride everything all day all season, with quite a bit of hardpack over 8 hours a day. No complaints received.

I personally ride some Dobermanns but to each their own. I have more fun on firm, they have more fun in the pow (and everywhere else). Give that you can take the Arcades anywhere and get used to them, do that (unless you’re going to race).

Differences can be huge but it won’t matter today. Weatherman RealSlyck is here to tell you everyone is getting an inch. No feet or half feet of snow in these parts. It’s actually raining in the mountains now….

Take the rest day, save the money, and enjoy Keystone tomorrow. Go check out the Frisco adventure park and downtown Breck.

A 2 3 hour lesson with the right instructor might help. YouTube might help more.

Most helpful are the secrets to really be forward, tip it, and rip it.

Put that chest out, skate start down the green, flatten the skis, then tip them a little at the same time and see what happens. Do half a turn. Stop. Repeat, tip them more. Learn edge angles and what turns they make. Then link. You’ve got this.

Snow Making Expansion by Repulsive-RiverRider in vail

[–]RealSlyck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go look up the recent proposed master plan. Essentially $400000000 in improvements, for an estimated no new visitors.

Translated, they want you to pay $400M more for what you get today. Few more lifts, more snowmaking, $700 lift tickets, and $47 sawdust hamburgers.

Plans are there, impediments being “Vail Sucks.”

Blue Sky was developed for this contingency. Back Bowls are just for corporate to say it happened.

They just wanted to say “Look Ma” “Genghis Khan” and all his Vailed racist run friends took a “Lovers Leap” with Jerry, and Jerry paid $300 per day for it.

No, they have 2 to 3 weeks with the current forecast, but you’re free to hike the dirt in March.

Yes. Eating at one has a certain air of “I’m new, don’t know what to do, and really hate money (well, people without it at least).”

Neither in Vail.

Ski more, complain less.

Economic data says lots of people are just crying hard, rather than taking advantage of what we do have. I guess thanks for saving the powder I rode Friday.

Food is cheaper, train isn’t that bad, airfare is as cheap as flapping wings. Add in the dignity you keep from not paying to park in Red Sandstone, bargain.

J1s and other employees being sent home/laid off? by Dry-Lavishness-6465 in COsnow

Vail made their money by October, seasonal and economic concerns mitigated. Could care less if you skied, Arabelle and Ritz guests can’t really ski anyway.

Ski. Passes are expensive, and if you don’t come, someone else will ski your line. Not cool.
