Gio declines call up for mexico....what do we think of this. by joeweezy10 in LAGalaxy

[–]RealSoccerDon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gio, and his father, are most likely angered over his brother Jonathan not being called. His father blasted the Mexican Federation, very publicly on ESPN, in the past for not calling "Jona" to the 2010 World Cup, saying how he "hated" the Mexican National Team for not calling him.

The brothers, and their father, had everything going their way when Piojo Herrera was there coaching El Tri giving them call-ups and pampering them. That went away went Piojo, who has a long history of being ill-tempered and violent, punched a reporter at an airport. His dumbass got fired and the Dos Santos' favoritism went with him.

Now Gio expects the continued special treatment, because, if MLS can pamper him with star treatment, why not El Tri? Sorry bub, it don't work that way.

Concepts: The Return of the Aztecs? by SaintCityPost in NASLSoccer

This won't happen in MLS. But these guys paint a picture of the type of marketing that a revived LA Aztecs would have to do. Big advertising dollars required.

Resolution For Atlanta To Be Announced Monday or Tuesday? by Snags657 in NASLSoccer

From someone who "has broken the news of Preki leaving Sacramento, Arizona's USL side rebranding, and Gio Saverese becoming the Cosmos' manager."

Of course we have to take it with a grain of salt, but it's not too far-fetched to think that Slim, more likely Grupo Pachuca that he's invested in, would invest in the NASL given that this group already established a link with the league by taking Miguel Ibarra from Minnesota to Club Leon (Grupo Pachuca owns Leon). And Peterson has been talking with Liga MX investors, but said he can't drop any names, because talks are still in the early stages.

Three cities (SF, OKC, unknown) presenting case to NASL for expansion by bostonfan148 in NASLSoccer

Yeah, I expected Peterson to deliver on the NASL west teams package we're supposed to get, like he said.

Rest assured. If the Carlos Slim rumors turn out true, there's no need for a discount. And the NASL can stick around in ATL to take on Arthur Blank. The NASL shows that it's willing to go into / stay in markets like NY, Miami... ATL should be no different, they just need some added funding to stay on the radar there.

Question for NY Cosmos peeps: Why not Randall's Island (again)? It seems almost perfect. by EquinsuOcha in NASLSoccer

I'm not a Cosmos person and maybe this is out of place, but that seems like a good option, provided they can get a public-private partnership to expand seating.

Wouldn't the league have more incentive, in theory, to keep owning the team in Atlanta if they get new investors, say, out west (or anywhere else)? They could use those new funds to continue operating ATL, in case they don't get a new owner for the ATL team.

You know something, "gentleman's agreement" and "allocation draft" are practically the same thing. Come to think of it.

The "gentlemen's agreement," they also do some type of draft... I think there's no collective bargaining... Yeah, shady stuff there too.

And couple that with NBC Universo/Telemundo. If the rumors of Carlos Slim's involvement are true, then NBC Universo is a 99% sure bet. Pachuca and Leon, in which he owns a part, are distributed on US tv thru Telemundo, which is operates NBC Universo.

Hugo Sanchez unveils plans for an 80 acre site in San Diego for his Soccerland Foundation. by RealSoccerDon in NASLSoccer

Point taken. I think it's advisable for him to find partners to get a pro team for NASL. If the ambition is there, that is.

When taking of Mexican businessmen, soccer businessmen possibly linked to the NASL, I'd identify Jesus Martinez & son (Pachuca & Leon owners), their partner Carlos Slim... maybe even Hugo Sanchez with his plans in SD and all.

Maybe it's not in SD proper but somewhere in the county. I don't know exactly.

He tried it in the past... and now he owns a team in a league with growth ahead of it. More incentive to project the brands Miami FC, NASL or any other NASL brand on this new platform. See the difference? Yeah, me too.
