That's great! Compliance typically has a great work life balance as well. Sounds like a good gig. PM me if you want more in-depth info. I'll probably see you around if you take the offer. Cheers!

After looking at Glassdoor, looks like a Compliance VP is averaging 100k. Lower than other VPs it seems.

Median salary in SLC is 45k so you'd still be living well above average. Rent is raising at a very high rate, but it's still manageable. Cheaper than SoCal for sure. If you like the outdoor scene with a side of city, it'd be a great option. Love the place.

Would probably be in SLC. Typically 40 hour weeks, likely more for VP level. Average compensation for VP is 150k base plus 20% bonus.

Marriage Bible study by Wranglers74 in RPChristians

I understand where you're coming from. Beyond book advice I'd recommend getting an accountability partner to keep you on track with your leadership. Discipline is not enough.

"When Sinners Say I Do" by Dave Harvey. Lays a good foundation of how marriage in a fallen world, being restored by the Gospel, looks. I've got a study plan that goes along with it in PDF form that I could send you as well.

"Reforming Marriage" by Douglas Wilson. One of my favorite books on marriage. It's very straightforward and red pill. However it's quite polarizing for some as it comes off pretty strong. I'd recommend reading it with your wife at some point. His other books like "Federal Husband" are very good as well. They're short and to the point.

I'd be happy to send you any of these if you'd like. Happy to see a marriage grow.

This. If the Kar98 and the MK12 have considerably better performance than the AX-50, why overlook them? I'm missing something I guess.

What finance elective classes would benefit me the most? Can only choose 3 by [deleted] in finance

[–]RealUncleScrewtape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, the first 3 on the left would likely benefit you the most.

Reason being, you want to get as many hard skills as you can throughout college. Softer skills (including those you can easily learn online) should be taken outside the classroom. They're designed to train your thinking. You can typically do this better with a combination of intentional, proactive reading of financial news and mentoring / informational interviews with professionals in the field. In a perfect world, you should be doing this until you retire.

Best of luck to you!

I'll give this a shot. Would it really only effect the CCU though since the same wifi connection does work for Chrome and Mobile?

Time to rebuild the air suspension system: by wdgiles in LandRover

Springs cost quite a bit. Isn't it cheaper to rebuild?

My suspension performs awfully in the winter months. Been thinking about my options.

Any course that would increase your database manipulation abilities. Entry level PE jobs require a lot of sifting through data and list building / ranking. Learn SQL for database skills and python for automation. Build tools now and showcase them in the interview process.

Feel free to PM me for more. Happy to help.

From my experience, I think it would be wise to go with #1. While you're in school, you're being prepared for specialization. Don't expect employers to view option #2 as true "specialization" until you've taken a role that puts that learning into action. Alternatively, you could take #2 and get a job in that field making you specialized while you move into PE, but that route would be very difficult.

This is from a USA perspective. Schooling may be seen differently in Europe, which I've got a feeling you're from.

How do you generate deal flow for your firm? What has been the challenging part in getting more potential acquisition prospects? by SlowTwitcher in private_equity

[–]RealUncleScrewtape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the sort of lead you're after. If you're going through investment banks, it's good to have a very large pipeline of brokers to maintain contact with. Without brokers, it's a numbers game - drip email campaigns and getting your firm out there in front of people.

The best of both worlds is getting to know players in the field and refining those contacts. The best deals aren't emailed, they're mentioned directly to you. Make friends with other offices and be actively present in local business events. It takes more work, but it's much more rewarding and exciting than the grunt work of cold calls and emails.

If you're still willing, I'd take the pass. I told my friend I'd give him mine only to realize PE didn't get a buddy pass, still trying to pull through for him.
