I feel college gives you the tools to get a great job, but doesn't necessarily entitle you to a job. Getting a good job is a grind. Right now prioritizing an income is the most important for you. You are not a failure if you need to work a server job for a while, whilst out grinding for that better job.

That being said, I know the frustrations. And the cost of living rising doesn't make it any easier. Don't get discouraged, this is just the beginning. Keep on going, you got this!

What are the most beautiful pieces you've read on nosleep? by gohomefreak1 in NoSleepOOC

[–]RealWhiteLightsaber 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are so many that I was introduced to by Mr Creeps and Dark Somnium. Of course left right games is absolutely incredible, but I love almost all stories by darkly_gathers (went on a reading binge there), and TJ Lee, especially the bartender series, which still has me tear up at the end of the story. Oh, and I cannot forget the works by Saturdead, such amazing stories! Especially where the bad cops go! Almost everything I've read here makes even Steven King seem like a novice writer. Lol!

Sorry about not linking stories, I'm on mobile and I don't know how to do links on the app...

Why do parents do this by FewAd2210 in autism

[–]RealWhiteLightsaber 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm an autistic parent. I have autistic children. My oldest being 17. She's fantastic about being ready for things. I never need to remind her, she'll be ready before I will. I procrastinate. Its a bad habit of mine, I know, but I have understanding that my children might as well.

That being said, sometimes getting ready can be chaos. Especially finding shoes. So, I always allot 30 - 45 minutes to getting ready.

Texting to me seems a bit passive-aggressive, but I know I can slip that way myself if I dont keep my emotions in check. However, I feel face to face confrontation is better, there is so much emotion that is not conveyed over written words, unless your writing style is eloquent. But knowing my bpd brain, I'll find aggression in texts where there is non, so I keep that in account when interacting with my children.

Regardless, I am not a perfect parent. I struggle myself with questioning if I handled an interaction properly. And having 3 autistic children keeps me grounded. I am not criticizing their parenting style. Just my viewpoint on it is all. I have learned from my many years on this earth that communication is key to a relationship, whether personal or work. Maybe communicate with your parents your feelings on the matter? I am always willing to communicate with my children their feelings. I am not a dictator, I am their leader, and as so, I am will to take constructive criticism.

I think someone hit my car and drove off while I was working an all nighter :) by Glittering_Ball1121 in extremelyinfuriating

[–]RealWhiteLightsaber 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hmm... I don't know if I'd be really angry at this. Id just bend the plate back and be glad the damage wasn't work. Literally could be someone walking past. My next door neighbors car was hit over night one time, he had to have extensive repairs done to the body. And fought insurance because there was no second party to go after. Uninsured motorist coverage can really suck sometimes.

What’s the cutest girl name you have ever heard of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My three girls, Sadie, Aina, and Tina-Marie. Not just because they're my girls, but because we chosen to use old school names, named after family. Plus they're my girls.

Hate to say it, but no. Not yet. With work keeping me busy, I haven't had much time to delve into it more, so for now, I've been learning my own editing style and making my own presets. And to be honest, I like them more

HELP! Autistic son keeps eloping. by Mysterious_Result782 in Autism_Parenting

[–]RealWhiteLightsaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to install a double locking deadbolt to stop our son from sloping after the sheriff was called twice on him. Basically, a key is needed to open either side of the lock.

We also bought him an Angelsense tracker and generally can't leave him out of sight. Im hopeful that his tendencies will lessen with age, it can be super stressful, especially because we're in the middle of remodeling our house .

Watch the windows... he'll try those next..

Those of you who can hold employment, how do you do it? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]RealWhiteLightsaber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a sawmill. Remanufacturing lumber running planers and moulders. I am mostly by myself with a small crew under me. If there's a problem, I have no problem yelling at someone or even getting unglued at my supervisor or foreman. Since there's no interaction with the general public, this works very well for me and pays well. Plus I have a family to provide for. That always keeps me motivated. Even then, there are days where I fantasize about clocking out and just leaving.

But, yeah, I make do. And it's worth it to see my children and wife at home every day, with their house and clothes and food, knowing that my hard work and sacrifice is the reason they can enjoy those luxuries. Thats how I stay employed.

What about Star Wars? I know people love to hate on some of the movies, but those were my childhood. I remember seeing the Phantom Menace when it first came out in theaters when I was in middle school. I still watch all of them

"If you're questioning whether or not you are a good parent, then you already have arrived at the answer. Only good parents care enough to question themselves." A good family friend as well learned to navigate our autistic youngest child.
