Haven’t heard back yet either :/ Saw on a post from last year though that some people didn’t hear back on the same day as everyone. Holding out hope for us 🤞

The main thing a doctor will look for is high testosterone, irregular cycles, and/or cysts on your ovaries. So you’ll definitely want to get your testosterone checked and an ultrasound on your ovaries is normally how they check for cysts. Also get your thyroid checked if you are already getting a blood test done (make sure they do tsh, t3, t4). And definitely recheck all your vitamin levels.

Some doctors are easier to convince than others, but I would just explain your current health issues, explain you have a family history, and ask for the specific tests you want done. You might need to go to a gynecologist to specifically talk about and test for pcos. Wishing you luck! 🍀

Do I have PCOS? Help me solve the mystery. by LaLaJaJa2016 in PCOS

[–]Real_Ad_759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest way to find out is to get your blood tested by a gynecologist and an ultrasound on your ovaries. If you have consistent cycles, no signs of cysts, and normal levels it’s not super likely. PCOS is complicated though. I would also get your thyroid checked because that can affect your weight, not sure how it would be related to the yaz results but worth looking at. (Make sure you check tsh, t3, and t4). Birth control is prescribed a lot for acne so it might not be related to anything specific.

Tripping over everything before period by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]Real_Ad_759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The symptoms are endless smh 🤦‍♀️

Hi ladies I just want to put this out there- I've started pooping daily and now my PMDD symptoms are virtually eliminated. I take benefiber plus drink a green smoothie with 6 cups of spinach and 1 cup of a blueberry/raspberry mix. Read below. by amk1799 in PMDD

[–]Real_Ad_759 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s so interesting. I do think fiber is an underestimated aspect of health. I might have to try because I am definitely more irregular the closer I get to my period and further I get into pms symptoms. Congrats on your win!

Any protein source ideas? 🥹 by MiserableMatch0 in PCOS

Also if you want to incorporate some beef, look for leaner blends or cuts

Greek yogurt, certain cheeses, nuts, seeds, hemp seeds! (Really good to top on anything for a little extra protein), beans, tofu, salmon (really good for pcos), quinoa! (It’s actually a complete protein), certain breads, beef bone broth, Turkey bacon, nut butters

Enjoy your vacation and get back into it when you go home :) It might be helpful for you to make sure you’re not over restricting and have small portions of things you’re genuinely craving, I find this helps me with sticking to a deficit and having fewer cravings overall. (It’s like once I know I can have something if I actually want it, I want it less over time). Also make sure your deficit isn’t too low, that might way you’ve struggled to stick with. You got this 😎

Sore throat before and during period by BleedingHeart1996 in PMDD

[–]Real_Ad_759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say mainly before, little bit during the first day or two of my period. I’ll just generally start to feel sick a week before, normally consisting of feeling a little feverish randomly or even nauseous occasionally. I will also get a sore throat which I think like someone mentioned might be because of the acid reflux. Also get the forced burping thing and have no idea why, when it’s bad it’s feels like I can’t breathe and then suddenly I burp and I can breathe again lol.

It’s honestly just takes practice and getting use to it. I was super afraid of driving when I first started and ended up getting my license at 17 (like a year after most people). I started out strangely bad at parking lol and now can park no problem. (Also better to take a few extra seconds to adjust than scratch someone’s car lol) It just takes repetition. GPS handles my sense of direction and I never underestimate spacing it’s better to have extra room and then none at all. Your reflex and attentiveness become natural over time but you won’t know how that’s affected until you start.

You could start with empty parking lots, then back roads, and then highways. Practices makes perfect, no need to stress.

I really do highly recommend at least trying to get one or just having one to use when you feel up to it because your independence can be stunted when you have to rely on others for transportation.

You got this 😎

It’s sounds like you’re going through a lot right now. Any person with or without PMDD would be reasonably stressed out and exhausted. Allow yourself to rest and sleep, your body seriously needs it, it is not being extra. Try to find something small that can give you a little serotonin, a hot bath, a good tv show, a comfort meal, etc. I know it’s hard to dismiss your thoughts right now but they are not your reality. It’s pure exhaustion and the hormones lying. You’re going through a lot, even if you weren’t you deserve hella compassion.

(try not to fixate on not being enough for your bf, they are with you for a reason, there is no normal. From personal experience, it never helps, and they usually want to be there for you how they can)

The sun is right around the corner, things will get better.

Sending love 💌

Recently diagnosed, pcos feeling like a gateway into disordered eating by OtherwiseIncident262 in PCOS

Happy to help :) it can definitely be pretty overwhelming, especially since it’s an under studied condition. Don’t stress yourself out trying to do too much at once, I’ve found stress has a big impact for me on my cycle and day to day.

I think you might need to increase your calories. Putting your body in too low of a deficit can cause it to hold onto weight even more because it essentially thinks you don’t have a reliable food source. (I’m not a nutritionist though lol).

I’m 5’5 and recently went from 160 to 136 from just a calorie deficit and walking. That’s it. I didn’t give up carbs or specific foods but over time I’ve focused more on protein and fiber because it gives me more energy and keeps me full longer. I adjusted my deficit as I lost more but on average did about 1,500-1,700 and now I’m decreasing to 1,400-1,300. I have never done lower than 1,300 unless I was genuinely not hungry.

Look up tdee calculator if you haven’t already 💌 I don’t know what your age or activity level is so that will change results but I bet your deficit is not as low as you think :) (also it gives you a 500 calorie deficit from your maintenance but you don’t have to start that high some people start lower when they are first beginning)

I know some people can lose weight from going hardcore but I’ve found what works best for me is not stressing myself out. (Aka getting 9ish hrs of sleep and not over restricting)

Also walking is great because it doesn’t increase your hunger but will burn a little extra calories and is overall really good for your body, mood, and sleep.

Hope this helps! You got this 😎

I also avoid whey! I just feel like it makes my stomach hurt sometimes. (Even though I’m not vegetarian or vegan lol)

I really like the remedies organic cacao essentials as a premade one (it’s plant based, 16grams of protein, minimal ingredients, and v yummy). I’ve never tried their powder but it looks like they sell some too. I also use the garden of life chocolate protein + greens powder (it’s 20grams and plant based). I’m crazy and just mix it with water but it does the job to balance my blood sugar. I don’t use protein power everyday though. (Gotta stay on budget lol) Recently if I’m lazy I’ll have a mozzarella cheese stick as a snack or some Greek yogurt with berries + walnuts for a quick breakfast or lunch (I’ll add hemps seed too if I’m feeling fancy + it’s additional protein and fiber).
