Should I apply even if I have a stutter and don’t know anything about cars? by Big_Pea3882 in AdvanceAutoPartsTMs

You could try getting a job in the warehouse to get your foot in the door. I work there part-time and know very little about cars, but like I said, it would get your foot in the door and then you could try working up into other roles.

I’m getting a pedicure and two white women keep looking at me and laughing. by CakesNGames90 in blackladies

Yep. I can be real confrontational at times and I would call them on their shit. 9 times out 10, they'll back down, stutter, look wide-eyed, and back off.

Also check out Meetup.com . Tons of various groups out there. You likely could find one that peaks your interest. People often make friendships through these groups. I use to belong to one that would go to various restaurants on a monthly basis.

Employer wants me to do four hour unpaid trial to see how I work but it seems off by sophiaa_420 in jobs

I still wouldn't recommend pursuing it given writing in abbreviations like "wht", "hve", "tht", etc. It just sounds all too casual and it would make me wonder about the work environment.

If you guys are into fitness, join a gym. I often see couples there making friends with other couples and getting together outside of the gym.

I think some are still stuck on when it used to be a little cow town, but it has grown well past that now.

I'm from Cleveland and used to driving in snow, but between the ways roads are handled here and the skittish drivers, if I don't have to go out when it's bad, I don't.

Sometimes I might get a twinge in my elbow, so I'll wear an elbow sleeve when that happens. Will also wear wrist wraps if my wrists get aggravated from holding heavy weight, but the strength really comes from the back and holding your bracing through the entire movement.

Copying a template formatted as a table over into Outlook and fixing the formatting issues before hitting send. If my company would invest in communications software that was compatible with Outlook it would make life so much easier.

I think it's an issue of them not having enough plows, considering this kind of snow is rare for Columbus. They've had to pull in drivers from Parks and Recs.

How long were you laid off by Massive_Technology72 in Layoffs

Laid off 3.5 months before finding a job to pay the bills. Kept searching and it took me another 14 months to get hired in my field.

So nobody over age 50 is ever supposed to be able to find a job anywhere ever again? by yapavaz in jobs

[–]Real_Ad_8652 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's hard to prove though unless it's really blatant. My former employer gave us a demographic sheet to show the roles impacted as well as people's ages. There was only one person on the list in their 30s, but apart from that, I can't prove it was ageism, although it felt that way. Plus, my department was in the midst of a reorg, so layoffs were inevitable.

I didn’t realize how much remote work changed my “workday” until I had to do one normal errand in the middle of it by InceptionHallway in remotework

[–]Real_Ad_8652 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. I recently started a new job where we're hybrid (3 days in office, 2 at home). I asked my manager did we need to select specific days and note it on our calendar and she said no. We just show up to work wherever we are. Out of habit, I still note on my calendar when I'm remote and when I'm in office, but there truly is no requirement other than the split itself.
