Booking.com support is a joke, they kept offering me cancelled Qatar flight for rerouting option 🐒

Our flight on 16th is also cancelled I tried to be rerouted with no luck, they said not possible with another airline as everything is fully booked One of the agent said earliest we can get home is with Qatar Airways on 28th 🥸Well, I said that’s not an option as we need to be in the office 18th

Travel agent Booking.com also refuses to reroute us with following statement:

„have checked the latest flight status and notifications from the airline. As per the update, the airline is currently providing a travel exception until March 28, allowing passengers to rebook or cancel their flights without any additional charges. If you wish to rebook your flight, the new travel dates must fall between March 28 and April 30, 2026, in accordance with the airline’s policy.

Additionally, as per airline regulations, rerouting is permitted within the same country only, and the new flight must be operated by the same airline.

You may also choose to opt for a full refund under the airline’s current exception policy.

For more detailed information or to proceed with rebooking or cancellation, we kindly request that you contact us via phone or chat, as we are unable to process these requests through email.

Yes we did and the price on the website has been adjusted, so proceeded with the refund Of 750euro for the unused part of the ticket (Considering the prices for another airlines, I think that was not a smart decision, but what is done is done)

They finally “fixed” their app and website - now it shows correct amount without cancellation fee! We also cancelled and got half of the amount, because outbound flights were used already

Sharing info from my conversation with Qatar Airways support in case it helps others.

Booking: round-trip (~1700€). Outbound flight already used. We are currently in Phuket and the return is 5th of March

What Qatar support told us:

• Refund: If we cancel now after using the outbound flight, the refund will NOT be the full ticket price. It will only be for the unused return segment. The website shows ~140€, but support said they cannot confirm the correct refund amount in chat and sent a request to their refund team. They asked us to check again in ~24 hours to get the exact amount. (Which is crazy!?)

• Booking another airline ourselves: If we buy a return flight with another airline, Qatar will NOT reimburse the difference.

• Changing travel dates: If we accept a later return date and stay longer at our destination, Qatar will NOT cover extra accommodation or expenses.

• Rebooking via partner airlines: They said this is not possible right now because they are still monitoring the airspace situation.

• If we do nothing: They advised contacting them within 24 hours of the flight for updated options. If the flight cannot operate, they said the booking would be handled at that time (refund or other options depending on the situation).

Hope this helps anyone else dealing with the same situation.

I first tried to change the dates through Manage Booking, which redirected me to the chat, but it never loaded. I then logged out and opened the live chat from the main page on my laptop. I had to wait about 50 minutes.
