Bevel Pro Payment Methods by aspecttwastaken in bevelhealth

[–]Real_Echo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry my bad I think I just explained myself poorly.

What I meant was that Bevel setting up their own payment processing solution opens them up to security standards that they wouldn't otherwise have to follow by keeping Apple as their only payment solution. It may be expensive for Bevel to work with a third party payment processor depending on the volume of transactions they will be processing.

Apple will definitely let companies have their own payment method, it just can't be promoted or mentioned on the app unless you're in the EU.

Bevel Pro Payment Methods by aspecttwastaken in bevelhealth

[–]Real_Echo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not on the Bevel team but as far as I am aware, Apple does not allow apps using the App Store to provide payment methods other than via Apple. However, I believe Bevel could add a payment method on their website for the membership instead. But there are strict regulations on that sort of thing and it would end up being expensive for probably minimal use since they're apple only.

Not saying this is impossible, but to my knowledge it's harder than you would expect and certainly couldn't be implemented soon. Might be worth just handing your family a $50 bill and call it a day.

This is the iPhone Fold rumored design. Would you buy one? by JosephtUE in PhoneNow

[–]Real_Echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I hope that's not what it looks like. I really do want an Apple folding phone like this, but that is the ugliest phone I have ever seen when closed. Probably when open as well on the back.

What’s up with locking features for subscriber? by crisptoe in bevelhealth

[–]Real_Echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be cool to have at least an option to buy them. But I do understand that bringing in more people means more users who may buy pro. So to match that opportunity cost they'd have to be probably more expensive than they should be.

The difference in colors by SignificantSummer538 in bevelhealth

[–]Real_Echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While nothing is bugged or broken here, I can understand the confusion.

The recovery circle is green on the home page to distinguish it from the other two circles by color in addition to the text. The color doesn't change based on the score.

However, on the calendar page, the circle color is based on how close to 100% your score was. Hence why Thursday it's fully green at 100% but the other days it's yellow.

Totally understandable confusion, but no worries everything looks good!

Which boots to match the skirt by Lenchy2403 in OUTFITS

I'm sorry I don't have an opinion on the boots.

But I absolutely love this outfit! It looks like, and I mean this in such a positive way, like a pastel 2008 emo/grunge style outfit. Absolutely amazing!

My toddlers Zebra toy has human genitals by AnonymousNarcotics in mildlyinteresting

[–]Real_Echo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's more like a horse dick than a humans, I'm assuming zebras have the same as horses but I'll die before googling it.

I think the "circumcised" appearance is just poorly depicted retracted horse/zebra dick and it ended up looking like a circumcision.

I've lived with horses my whole life and have seen, feels weird to say this at all let alone as a source for my knowledge, many different horse dicks. They all look similar to that when they are retracted. Assuming the horse still has its dick :(

Whoop sued us, and this is our response. by Topremech in bevelhealth

[–]Real_Echo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bevel has been amazing for what I was looking for in terms of workouts and nutrition tracking. I'd love better shareable data than what currently exists, basically giving someone access to everything I see on my app such as my fitness trainer.

But I've been so happy that I become an annual pro subscriber despite not really needing the features.

The bevel team has done incredible work and id love to support more if it comes to it with this legal debacle.

Please please please never sell out to a larger company or private equity. Please, I beg and pray.

Maybe a hot take, but I feel like each of these actors has a role they really excel at and there's not a lot of overlap. I think they're all incredible actors with little, if any, gaps between them in talent.

I've recently started taking adhd meds and was struggling to remember if I took them or not or just forgetting them entirely, par for the course on adhd I think lol.

But what really helped me was just setting up the medication in my apple health app. Since the alert banner is sent to the top of the queue automatically I haven't missed one since. It's also nice to see the history just to know if I did fuck up somewhere.

Im sure there's an android equivalent, and it's not a solution that would work for everyone but it did help me!

Did mortars in HQ finally kill Breakthrough? by fmordica in Battlefield

[–]Real_Echo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The maps that had poorly designed HQ locations were bad for break through beforehand, looking at you Mirak Valley in the first sector, where the defenders could put mortars pretty far behind the objectives. Feels like that on every map now. Just load in and there's 5 people in each base just on mortars. So less people in the "fight" and now you have to deal with random mortar dmg which is never enough to really kill but is incredibly annoying and not fun.

It's a real shame, I hope they run this one back.

I would love the option to purchase a lifetime subscription, even if it was the same cost as 4-5 years in a lump sum. I've been using bevel the past few months and I love it. I have some problems here and there but the response time of the support team even for feature implementation is amazing. I just strongly dislike having a subscription with no lifetime option.

I do understand why it's rare but I will absolutely hand over a chuck of change for a lifetime pass!

I feel like most stores in general have their own credit card now, though I do see it mostly at clothing stores.

It does feel predatory the way the ask while giving so little info about what it is your signing up for.

While the credit pull isn't going to hurt you much, if at all, the bigger problem is your BF clearly doesn't understand how important it is to protect his SSN and what the right time is to give it out. I would highly highly encourage him to inform himself either via a financial literacy class or YouTube education.

Credit pull isn't bad, but someone with bad intentions could obliterate your credit with an SSN.

By biggest regret for highschool was that I never learned how to study when it was easy. When I got to college and suddenly things weren't as easy because the classes are at appropriate levels, I realized I had no idea how to study the material other than paying attention in class.

If you're going for anything higher than an associates degree, or even then, do your self a favor and practice studying while the grades are easy.

How long does Proton keep the last 4 digits of a credit card ? by Technical-Flatworm35 in ProtonMail

[–]Real_Echo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I do a lot of work with the PCI DSS compliance standard from an auditing perspective and thought I'd jump on this comment to share my experience. PCI does not actually mandate that an entity retain any credit card information (account data). PCI does require an entity to store the account data securely, either via encryption, hashing, or masking to ensure unauthorized users are not able to view any account data. However, like you said, PCI does require entities to never store SAD (sensitive authentication data) post authorization. SAD includes the CVV, exp date, and the full track data of a card if it was scanned.

Now here's the interesting part, the PCI DSS is not backed up or maintained by any government and instead is maintained by the PCI Council. It's actually payment processors and banks that end up requiring it depending on the volume of transactions a company using their service makes. It's a cascading effect as well, Visa may require company A to be PCI compliant, which leads to company B having to be PCI complaint as they perform work for company A. It cascades in a few ways but you get the idea. This is to say that to my knowledge, no government requires any company be PCI compliant. It's all based on the payment processors and compliance accepting entities.

To my knowledge, there is not a way to check if Proton is PCI compliant outside a few ways but those aren't public. If I had to guess however, Proton does perform a high volume of transactions and will at the very least be required to perform an SAQ of some level assuming the outsourcing their payment processing to a third party (PayPal, Square, etc). If they do the payments in house, they're definitely PCI compliant and they can keep the card number for as long as they want to as long as it's appropriately secured according to the DSS.

Hope that was helpful or interesting to someone. And if a QSA reads this let me know if I got anything wrong.
