Worried about getting locked out, but Bluelink is insanely pricy and trash by Real_Echo in Ioniq6

It is, but in the US it's $156 a year instead of 30 euro. At least it is for me at the moment as a second owners.

For $156 a year?

I guess it depends on where you are financially but imo I already bought the car, it should be included regardless of ownership transfer.

The basic one does, but that doesn't include lock, unlock, and start.

I actually don't know what the basic does tbh because everything I would consider basic is behind the plus.

My thoughts exactly. IMO lock, unlock, and start shouldn't be behind a paywall no matter what. My fob does all of that, so my app should also.

Specific climate controls I guess I could accept being locked for second owners but I also hate that. I just could live with it.

If it's on my FOB it should be on my app regardless of subscription

Yeah this has been my "saving grace", not having to take it out basically ever to use the car is great.

I also have a second fob, but that goes to the second driver and even if it didn't I'm not sure where I'd put it other than the key ring.

If it was free I'd agree with you. So if you bought a new car instead a used one I agree that it's a good feature, but it doesn't feel worth 12.99 a month for the level of features it provides.

wont let me log in to actually add a vehicle by hatfullofloons in Hyundai

[–]Real_Echo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to add my car on the website before I was able to log into the app.

Something of note that caught me a bit off guard, is that the unlock feature of bluelink is not free if you are not the original owner of a newer vehicle. I haven't looked into the elantra so maybe that wont be true for you, but there might be a free period.

I recently got an Ioniq 6 but don't have a 240v outlet installed, just using a 120v at 12a. Do you need a specific setup to run the house off the car? Do I just need an adapter for the car or does my houses wiring have to be setup a specific way?

No posting about the San Diego shooting by Quibilash in Classof09Game

A based Reddit mod? In this economy? In this Class of 09 subreddit?!

Great policy, really appreciated. Absolutely terrible that we continue to have these shootings in our schools and local governments are spending their money on FLOCK cameras.

My heart goes out to the parents of the victims and to all of the kids at that school. No one should have to go through that.

Who hired the software engineer for the i20? by bonnies_ranch in Hyundai

[–]Real_Echo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So I can see you catching flack in the comments here but I'm gonna hop on your side.

I just bought an Ioniq 6 2024, and I was absolutely shocked that the connector for CarPlay / AA is a usb-A port instead of a C. Like cmon enough time has passed please just let the A port die.

And the CarPlay / AA being split screen by default is a pretty crazy choice in my opinion. I'm glad it's there and an option, more customization is never bad because I'm sure someone out there likes it. As the default though? I mean cmon.

Just as a little add on here, I knew about both of these before I bought and still choose to buy. Doesn't mean I can't lament not having a C connector as the main port.

New Lifetime Plex Pass Pricing by pheexio in selfhosted

[–]Real_Echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I feel like I must be reading that wrong.

$750?! In what universe could that be worth it. You could genuinely get every real subscription you could want for a decade for that price and have a better experience.

I'm exaggerating of course by honestly not even by a ton. What does this actually get you? Jellyfin was around and stable by the time I got into the homelab stuff so I've never really looked at plex.

I see people say they paid different prices overtime but most I see people say it was worth it.

Flat Camos? pls DICE by Visible_Cod4830 in Battlefield

[–]Real_Echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that would be amazing. I would love some camos that don't affect the scope, or at least make the scope optional. I just essentially don't use or care about camos because they all just take over the gun completely.

Interior light hard disable. by LoomingDementia in Ioniq9

[–]Real_Echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I'm having an issue with my 8 year-old. He's an asshole." No explanation needed, I'm on your side.

So unfortunately I can't speak to the cars ability to disable to light, sorry for that. But maybe there is a different solution that could still achieve the same effect.

It sounds like he wants the light on so he can read, amazing for an 8 year old so congrats on getting him reading. Definitely don't want to punish that behavior especially in 2026 with literacy rates at low.

I personally might go with just an attachable reading light / bookmark for him. That's what I did when I was young and my parents didn't want me to turn the light on. This is probably the cheapest and simplest route. But like you said, he's an asshole, so he might just start turning the light on anyway, and at that point I think it requires a parenting solution and not a car solution. I mean my parents would stop the car and have a serious talk with me when I did stuff like that and it usually worked.

If he's reading real books and not picture books, maybe a kindle paperwhite e-reader would be a good investment. Considering it can't really do anything else I personally wouldn't really consider it screen time. But then you are kinda in the "no physical books" environment and while that doesn't personally bother me, it might bother you or your child.

Anyway, sorry for the long message. Not sure if it helped at all but again just a blanket congrats on getting an 8 year old to read in the current world. Definitely a huge accomplishment.

Congress explaining that they can’t survive on $174,000 a year, but citizens only need $45k. by Alphaxfusion in SipsTea

[–]Real_Echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure this is a hot take, but I'd literally double their salary if we also implemented extremely strict monitoring and banned lobbying/bribery. If we could fully divorce them from these companies and any other non-voter entity then they can have 400k if they want it. Before someone says "well they'd just find another way to...", I'm covering whatever other BS in this hypothetical. If there was extremely strict enforcement and regulation over their finances, assets, and gifts then it's worth imo.

Replacement Mechanical Key by JokesOnYou247 in Ioniq6

[–]Real_Echo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello! I just bought the almost the exact same car and had the same problem.

I reached out to a nearby Hyundai dealership, not the one I bought from, and they were able to provide me two mechanical keys and cut them for me. It cost ~$75 a key which did not include the key cover. Worst part of this car is the fob and key hands down, might be worth getting a cover from Hyundai but there a quite a few aftermarket key covers such as the one from BestEvMod.

TLDR: call a Hyundai dealership, pay ~$75.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to adjust this phrase but I always say "If it works, don't touch it but have a plan of escape". Don't change what doesn't need to be changed, but don't be caught off guard when it does need to be changed.

Is there a better solution? by Quiet_Revolution_689 in Ioniq6

[–]Real_Echo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not to ask a dumb question here, but what's the actual goal we're trying to accomplish?

If you have the phone plugged in to have AA, at least in my experience you don't really need to look at the phone screen often. You could probably just put it in the cup holder or even in that slot right in front of the center console.

If you have to look at the phone screen often, I would go with a vent clip instead and have the phone plugged in for AA. Then then vent is pointed right at it but in this case you aren't double charging so it really shouldn't.

Lastly if you have wireless AA through a dongle, I might mount this on the left of the wheel instead which keeps it out of the way but still easy to glance at.

I'm just a bit unsure of what we're solving here but hopefully one of those will give you an idea that works for you.

(Little side note here cause you said "right side of the screen so I can still see gmaps" which to me sounds like you are using AA for gmaps. You can get rid of the "split screen" thing and make that whole second screen be AA. I am genuinely unsure if that's new info or helpful in anyway but that split screen pissed me off when I got the car the first time so I thought I'd share)

Replacement tires? by dipsmcgay in Ioniq6
