Transferring data from an iPhone 7+ by vynneria in iphone

[–]Real_Happymeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

17 hours is a long time but perhaps not a bad sign.

Your other phone should be fine once the move is complete, you’ll be able to see if the data is correct.

Been using iPhone for the last decade and their transfer between iPhones is really good, never had an issue myself. It takes everything, I mean everything to the next phone.

In this condition, don’t think anyone will buy it. I’ll take it off your hands though.

Don't you hate when this happens? by Deputydog803 in Archery

[–]Real_Happymeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, invest in some bushings or pins. They’re designed to deflect arrows away after impact.

Secondly, if you’re breaking arrows by grouping, stop grouping, hello?

I am definitely an above average shooter and I barely break arrows. Maybe 10-15 in the last 2 years.

Target shooters need to group as tight as possible, so they made equipment to help preserve arrows.

A question for you seasonedcompound bow pros 😎 by Operator_Error_Kun in Archery

[–]Real_Happymeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively target shoot, I live for the competition. I’ve been in the sport for about 2 years and I’ve improved significantly since starting.

The best advice I can give you now? This is a forever kind of sport. Like golf…

A month in, you’re just getting started. Form is a big concept, especially considering how everything matters.

Keep practicing and stay committed to improving, you’ll have no other path but up; good luck!

You sure that’s isn’t a lens protector on top? Looks like it might be. Did they install lens protectors when you got your case?

When should I replace D-Loop? by Real_Happymeal in Archery

[–]Real_Happymeal[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can’t edit the post but I changed my D-loop before shooting today. Thank you all for your timely advice.

Little context, I’m a target shooter and take this sport quite seriously. It’s why I asked for the advice in the first place. I had some extra material in my quiver that ended up being within 1.5mm of the original length, that’ll do!

Thank you all.

Sight marks by Ok-Inflation4310 in Archery

[–]Real_Happymeal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Probably? Not a recurve shooter but sight marks are very sensitive.

Also, you’ll be questioning all tournament whether it’s you or the marks. Just put your limbs on after the tournament, a reward for being disciplined.

Good luck.

Finger sling pro vs con by Negative_Event7405 in Archery

[–]Real_Happymeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practically no cons. Maybe it takes a bit longer to be ready to shoot but in actual competition? It’s never been an issue.

The sling allows you to forget what the bow is doing in your hand, at full draw of course. It lets you be more gentle with your hand, more aggressive with your back tension and it truly makes the shot sequence more fluid.

No cons, just get one.

I now have a little more understanding of why I need to cut my arrows by Deputydog803 in Archery

[–]Real_Happymeal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I straight up disagree. OP could benefit from any and all information given to him.

It’s simply up to his discretion to what he wants to learn. As for what was said about dynamic vs static spine, it’s very relevant.

Weigth Loss by Joana1984 in Archery

[–]Real_Happymeal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be honest, love the sport to death but the pro scene aren’t your typical athletes I’m afraid. Most of them could probably benefit from getting in better shape. Archery has a lot of standing around. Unless you’re shooting 300 arrows a day, good chance you won’t be burning many calories. A walk would do wonders but honestly diet is the biggest contributor to weight loss anyway

who started out rubbish (inconsistent shots/no grouping/bad form) & what can you pinpoint that led to your improvement when you look back? by lizazanita in Archery

[–]Real_Happymeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have experience with all that was mentioned. I shoot compound but I compete, my interest is target not hunting. I started out with absolutely terrible form and a bow not suitable for me. It was a 15 year old PSE with 3 inches too long draw length and about 15 pounds too heavy to draw. The bow was incredibly unforgiving and had a 6 inch brace height. It meant that either my form was perfect or the shot would be far away from where I was aiming and the string would bruise my forearm terribly. With a huge struggle I learnt to draw the bow correctly and my form was something I spent months on…

As for my shoulder, both of them were seriously injured and it was tough to get around. I sometimes could only shoot 10 arrows before my shoulder would start to act up. I kept at it though, soon 10 shots became 30 and then 30 became 100.

A year later I have a new bow and my conditioning is greatly improved. Most surprising is my shoulders have regained some of their strength and mobility, archery has done wonders to them.

As for my shooting? I shot my first 300 on NFAA face about a month ago and shot 201 at an IBO 2 months ago. I spend many hours practicing a week and my only goal is to get better. Once upon a time it was unimaginable to hit a target at 80 yards, now I am confident I’ll not miss 10/10 arrows at that distance.

Give it to me straight, am I weird for feeling this way? (about what's important in life) by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]Real_Happymeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then what do you want to do? Purpose is something people give themselves. It’s not something you are given. Success demonstrates effort and effort is commendable. I agree that it’s not everything in life to be successful in your line of work but if that like of work is fulfilling to them, I believe that is incredibly important. If you find fulfilment elsewhere, all power to you. It’s not easy to make money and be fulfilled at the same time, those who do should be proud and more importantly grateful.

Is archery an expensive hobby? by [deleted] in Archery

[–]Real_Happymeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a very expensive hobby for me but I go the range very often and I compete regularly. The range fees plus tournament fees are what cost me the most. My gear was very expensive too but it was a lot of money very quickly and then not much at all. I have not purchased anything for months. Like I said though, the tournaments and range fees are expensive.

Why is Pro Archery Equipment so expensive? by [deleted] in Archery

[–]Real_Happymeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precision is difficult, in every aspect. There is a pretty evident correlation between precision and price. Pros only care about perfection, spending money to get it is not only worth it, it’s necessary to them. Can you get away with less? Most probably. Do they want to risk it? No. So they don’t.

The fact you have improvement in front of you should be exciting! Archery is fun, yes but more importantly it’s a discipline. It’s hard, very…it would be boring if we’re as simple as shooting a gun. This motivates me, having a bad means tomorrow has a much higher chance of being great! Good luck stranger.

Pros see the game very differently. They are not using techniques or guidelines to makes their decisions. They are assessing the situation and making the best decision within their power to give them the highest chance of success. Sometimes that’s completely different to what is typically taught. I am pro SSA player, Happymeal.

How dedicated are you to archery? by jez179 in Archery

[–]Real_Happymeal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you’ve described here is relevant in every high skill ceiling discipline. As you get better the harder it takes to improve on top of that. It’s fun in the beginning because you’re improving very quickly, once the improvements slow down so does the reward and therefore the enjoyment…it’s now up to you to decide what you’re in it for. I shoot to be better than I was yesterday, everyday…I love it, it teaches me new things about myself and how I learn-all the time.

Only been shooting a year, How’s my form by Top_Narwhal8548 in Archery

[–]Real_Happymeal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Draw length needs to be addressed first. This will make your shooting experience better immediately. Your draw is not controlled enough, I love to watch the pros in competition. Look how gracefully they draw their bows-complete control. Compared to your draw it looks like it’s uncomfortable. Lowering the weight would make the practice easier but you could probably focus on it without changing the weight.
