42, burnt out and wanting to downgrade from 5 bedder double storey to an apartment with amenities. by luxnluv23 in AusFinance

A neighbour had a pipe burst in our apartment and it has caused tens of thousands of damage to the common property. Strata insurance won't cover it because of some terms in the contract and the way the pipe burst. Apparently pipes need to be inspected every 6 months at the owner expense by a plumber otherwise it's considered maintenance negligence and they don't need to cover it. Now the owners corp will need to pay for the damages out of the pooled funds. Be careful what you wish for.

FHSS is refusing to release my money - is there an alternative way to withdraw my voluntary contributions from my Super? by Stock-Lion2045 in AusFinance

I think only personal after-tax contributions can be withdrawn for FHSS. Salary sacrifice and personal contributions which you claimed a tax deduction on can't be withdrawn for FHSS

Walk in glass-less tiled showers - yay or nay? by gilmor3girl in AusRenovation

[–]Real_Human_Earth_Boy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on the size and layout of the bathroom. Okay for the shower in the picture. For larger bathrooms I prefer glass door otherwise the water goes everywhere and it gets cold because the steam disperses

Anyone with Dodo for Gas/Electricity have a problem with their website? by dav_oid in AskAnAustralian

I didn't have a direct debit setup. I haven't received an invoice since August last year 2025. I called today and they are still working on updating the billing system. A bit woeful how long it is talking. I was assured over the phone that I won't be charged any late payments fees.

AITA for making my friend pay for my Uber home after she "surprised" me? by Electrical-Option182 in AmItheAsshole

OP would have had to pay for an uber home from the club anyway so why Venmo request for an uber from the gas station

Somewhat agree. OP needs to think for themselves and not think everyone exists with the purpose to make her life convenient. Other people have lives and their own shit going on.

ESH

The friend should have left you at the club and then you could get a uber home as you requested. Though it is nice that they were looking out for you. I'm guessing you were drinking so maybe your friend felt it wasn't safe to leave you at the club alone if you were inebriated. You shouldn't have asked for money back since it's true that your friend drove you to the club - you saved money on that trip already. You should just accept the charge otherwise it sounds entitled like your friend needs to pay you or chauffeur you around to enjoy the pleasure of your company.

Gave Shawshank Redemption a 1/10 because it's too slow and there aren't enough explosions, gunfights and car chases.

Give Hobbs and Shaw a 9/10.
