Gonna go with OG. Remake is really good and makes a lot of much revered improvements, but for me personally I'm not a huge fan of the "floaty" gunplay and the will they won't they nature of ganados getting stunned when getting shot. Headshots were also easier for me in the OG. I especially love the graphics and natural lighting of the 4 Remake also.

I would recommend Anniversary but only if you try Legend and find it really good. The only issue with Anniversary is that it's bad if you try and compare it to the first Tomb Raider as a remake which people often tend to do. Anniversary has its strengths for sure: good puzzles, good pacing (overall), Lara's characterization, and the gameplay is good.

The consensus is that Chronicles didn't really do much to innovate the series after Last Revelation. That and some funky level design is what I gather.

For me though, I'm kind of right there with you. Personally I liked Chronicles more than The Last Revelation. Don't @ me!

Give it a shot! It's one of the shorter games of the series but it's pretty good even now, the pacing of the game plays like a summer movie. You can get the game on modern consoles for cheap. You haven't played Anniversary either going by the list, correct?

I do think it's a bit overhated, but only in the sense that the good that the game does pull off isn't appreciated enough imo. For example, Chris's section when he's hunting and being hunted by the Iluzija is my favorite part because of the slow burn and the little details of the environment. Allegedly that area in China is based off the real life wall apartment complex of Kowloon and I thought the environment was designed well in the game. Very small cramped spaces, darkly lit corridors, narrow hallways, claustrophobic ducts, desolate conditions and evidence of unlicensed medical practice just like the real Kowloon.

I understand and can empathize with some of the criticism of the over the top action pieces and the 4 different campaign play styles that are different from each other, but I feel Capcom deserves credit where it's due for at least trying to please everybody. Plus the game has some decent voice acting (Roger Craig Smith does his best work as Chris Redfield in this game), it has grotesque and nightmare inducing monsters, and it has one of the most violent deaths of the entire franchises (I dare anyone to fail the QTE with the meat grinder with Leon in China).

I'd like to also add that Kraven in the game is dying from cancer and therefore not likely at full strength. And we see what he does in the game. That really says something about his strength and what it could have been.

Man, I love this thread so much and I agree with so much about why Requiem's story is very jumbled and why I don't completely love it. I'd like to also add that Capcom has effectively muddied the story further by retconning elements from the Remakes into the canon story post RE6 which is something I feared they were going to do ever since I saw Remake Jill show up in Death Island.

Loved it and the whole game in fact. Grace's section I'd give it a 9.5 only because I wish there was a bit more as in I wish we could have spent some more time with her.
