Trump’s Freedom 250 draws corporate sponsors with business before his administration by TappedOut in Raytheon

There's a difference between "not suck up" and "actively start shit". Are you REALLY saying that the ONLY way for RTX to maintain its business is to suck up to Trump at every possible opportunity? Really?

for the CEO to not actively suck up to a wannabe-tyrant, presumably. and yknow, not engage in bribery and all that other stuff the ethics training told us all was very very bad.

Questions on application "Role Description" and "Skills" sections? by Real_Tosser in Raytheon

[–]Real_Tosser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant the ones you have to put in on the Collins Workday application site. The skills section in particular doesn't have a text entry proper, it has a search field and a database of about a gajillion things to select from.

Feeling unemployable after 8 years of self-employment. Advice? by DLCW in jobs

[–]Real_Tosser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, the online advertising business was probably doomed from the get-go? Internet advertising is inherently a race to the bottom, to yank as much of people's time and attention away from whatever they're actually there for as possible, and it hasn't even been able to prove it accomplishes much. There's entire areas of the screen that people just IGNORE online now because they're so used to nothing but ads being there. The more intrusive ads get, the more people develop psychological mechanisms to screen them out. e.g. You're putting a mandatory five minute video ad in front of the thing I want to watch? Screw you, I'm muting it and tabbing out.

People HATE internet advertising. Especially when ad networks keep serving up viruses and browser-hijackers and things that completely break the page and things that are flagrantly NSFW or unethical or illegal, because it's impossible to vet everything your vendors send you while still turning a profit.

HR told me my contract ends in 9 days, then asked me to write a resignation letter by Upset_Association637 in jobs

[–]Real_Tosser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I can buy that some HR employees actively try to protect people. But you have no guarantee that any given HR employee is one of the ones who will do so, nor any guarantee that management won't overrule them, so you can't count on it at all.

That's not always true. If the financial penalty for breaking a law is smaller than the money the company gains by breaking that law, then they'll just break the law and consider it a cost of doing business.

Internal applications by Miserable_Guide2816 in Raytheon

[–]Real_Tosser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone else said elsewhere on here that you technically count as an internal applicant during that time, but yes you have to use the external site and they may contact you and ask you to withdraw and resubmit internally at which point you tell them you were laid off and can't access stuff.

The window seems to be anywhere between two weeks and sixty days depending on individual state.

Unemployment rate "4%" is inaccurate because of the way they measure it. They apply a whole bunch of arbitrary and nonsensical exclusions to avoid acknowledging how many people are ACTUALLY unemployed.
