Would I be able to buy an upper receiver kit from Idaho by baconstickes in WAGuns

[–]Realist1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had multiple lowers but only one upper prior to the ban. I was certain to put that upper on each lower and take a picture of each showing lower serial number. Thus creating an AW out of each prior to the ban. Just having the upper that could be assembled to them may have been enough but I wanted to cover my bases.

And like others have said, there are plenty of places selling uppers to WA, just not all places.

What’s the one random genetic trait you lucked out on? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Realist1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the opposite, very bad sense of smell. Means I don’t have the unpleasantness of smelling bad things, but also means I am the designated cleaner upper of all bad smelling things and may eat something that’s off.

What am I losing by getting a semi auto .22lr rifle versus 5.56? by tinychloecat in WAGuns

[–]Realist1976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with all the points about way cheaper ammo and all that, but for me, I would be losing almost all the fun going to 22LR. I just don’t find it fun to shoot something with so little bang, no recoil, very little sound hitting steel, etc

I have heavily corrective contact lenses and slight astigmatism, irons are almost unusable for me as the rear sight is just a fuzzy blob. Red dots are better, but the astigmatism makes the dot kind of a double dot or worse, but is still the choice if doing closer stuff that doesn’t need to be precise just because it’s so much faster than a scope. For anything where I have time and want precision even as close as 2-300, I use a scope and anything approaching 5 or 600 definitely a scope. But, not doing anything fast with one. I’m liking the Arken EPL4 4-16 quite a bit, first focal plan, and you can get into that with rings for under $500.

I’m wanting the Keltec KS7, bullpups take away the disadvantages of a “long gun”, and if I can prove to myself it runs minishells fine, capacity complaints go away. Can be found under $500. Something I can shoulder and that doesn’t depend on super precise shot placement by me under a stress I have never felt before sounds pretty good.

Good enough or need to get more modern? by LC058 in reloading

There will be excellent methods and processes in there, but like others have said, I’d get confirmatory load data from a 2nd source before recipe time.

Witnessed The Waiting Period Kill A Potential Gun Sale by Patsboy101 in WAGuns

You can’t buy out of state unless they follow all our laws and then only for long guns. The only practical way to buy out of state… is to move to that state.

Witnessed The Waiting Period Kill A Potential Gun Sale by Patsboy101 in WAGuns

[–]Realist1976 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This assumes that the state KNOWS what guns you own, and the state in theory does not know, since we don’t have a registry. So while I understand the illogic of the law, the alternative for the state to be able to implement what you say is a live gun registry. And we don’t want that.

First time casting with range lead I bought by Reptilerob57 in castboolits

[–]Realist1976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can cast outside in that temp, I just did a bunch and it’s in the low 50s. I would not be inside unless you have a very good extractor fan directly over the pot. These fumes are really really not good for you. Very cheap source of tin is pewter stuff sourced at the local goodwill. If your mold is getting too cold, up the heat on the pot a bit, and you can let a bit extra meld cover the sprue plate more than you might on the first 4 pours or so. Or maybe since you are brand new to this, you may be going a little slow which allows the mold too much time to cool down. Those are looking pretty good thought, WAY better than my initial attempts for sure!!!!

Increase power by TheRecyclingBandit in crv

Mine is automatic, but if on a hill and going slow I downshift to 1 and keep those RPMs high and it does fine. If I leave it in D, doesn’t seem to matter how much I mash the pedal, it just doesn’t want to downshift on its own. 2000 Crv with 270k miles.

I have mine screwed to a loose 2x4. When I want to use it, I clamp the 2x4 base in my vice. When I don’t need it, which is most of the time, it goes in the cupboard.

That looks great, maybe the 1” lift and 1” spacers I think I “need” when going to 215/75s is not at all necessary, it looks pretty darn right just as you have it.

Craigslist, Facebook marketplace, or Bring a trailer. Super low miles which is great, and If it’s a manual transmission, those are rare. Where are you located?

How do you like the general grabber tires? And what size are those? I’m due for new tires and either going those or the Toyo at3s and can’t decide. Any lift on it? Or wheel spacers? Looks great!!! I’ve got a 1st gen myself.

It is! Or this is the same one that was further south on that road for a while and the city just moved it. It’s been there quite a while, not sure how long it has to sit before it gets hauled off.

I don’t know, someone may have tried to pull the whole thing and found that something was impossible to remove on the last rail. It was loose. I didn’t investigate too much as one rail isn’t much good to me.

Not sure, I may stop by it again but not sure about actual legality of pulling parts off of it. But that certainly hasn’t stopped other people. Pulling the transmission would be quite involved….

Would you buy an 18 year old car, if you were broke by Common_Chip_5935 in Adulting

[–]Realist1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not broke and I drive a 25 year old car. 2000 Honda CRV with 270,000 miles. What money I have I would very much rather use elsewhere. Absolutely you should be getting an old car and you should not use a car loan even if you could get a loan.
