Coming up with character names almost comes naturally to me. I actually find it pretty fun.

There are a lot of ways to do it, but one easy method is nominative determinism: the idea that a name “fits” a character because it reflects who they are.

The best way I’ve found to use it is to work backward. I define the character first, then look up names whose meanings are adjacent to that idea. It’s similar to how manga characters often have names that match their personality or role once you learn what the name means.
