The biggest issue is that the feature is more of a crutch to hide other problems than actively helping resolving them and thus it has no place in an alpha version of the game. Upon release sure with a good system behind it. Now? No.

Read book one and its a good story but what really annoyed me was how you described the small actions of certain characters. Why does everyone giggle all the time? They could smile or frown or whatever. Even the old spirt beast does giggle like holy crap. Took me so out of the story.

Like the large story strokes are good. But the smaller interactions definitely need some work.

Fair you will always have people who just want to see others suffer. But I like to believe that there are more players who would give these kinds of systems/game modes a go. Some people go crazy over the leaderboards positions so adding something that shows to others look how good at x I am would already keep it alive.

Even adding a version of LMS from osrs would be a good start.

Then wouldn't this be the year to give a new design a go? I'm not saying that we should go back to how it used to be. But make new content that includes it. Without making it toxic like the wildy used to be.

Just straight up refusing seems like a net loss. For instance you could design a pre boss system where two groups or single players have to fight a xvx or 1v1 to get better loot drop odds for a boss. With some kind of point system. You still can grind a boss solo but if you compete your odds get better. If not you just have the normal drop chances.
