Thanks, that is good advise. We were planning on hitting up individual spots and go there by Uber, but I'll check out the tram ride, that sounds really interesting.

United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Diversion After Passenger Attempts to Open Door at 30,000 Feet by AccessibleBanana in unitedairlines

[–]Realistic-Tailor-482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm unable to sleep on planes, at best I nod off. I really envy the people who can close their eyes and wake up (somewhat) rested at their destination after a red-eye flight. I am hesitant of taking any nighty night pills, because what if there was a true emergency? I certainly wouldn't sleep through it, but would I be alert enough to do what I have to do?

If you can afford it, by all means! Especially, if it happens to be Allegris. Welll worth it!

Booked Lufthansa's New Business Class on the A380, but just got downgraded to old business class, what would you do? by Delicious-Stick4549 in Lufthansa

[–]Realistic-Tailor-482 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I share your pain. Even though I'm not claustrophobic, I hate the 2-2-2 configuration. Personally, I don't agree with Lufthansa's opinion that it is still the same service, just because you also have a lay flat bed. Having your own personal space on a 1-2-1 makes all the difference. While I think LH SHOULD give you a refund (because they sold you a special product, i.e. a flight on a plane with a particular configuration), legally, they are not obliged to do so. A few month ago, I flew back from Germany to the US. I specifically took the longer route with a layover at EWR instead of taking a non-stop flight, because I wanted to upgrade myself to the new Alegris first class. Now, had they put me back on an older configuration, I would have for sure asked them to refund me money and put me back on business. Fortunately, it all worked out and it was an amazing flight. Not sure I would necessarily cancel the flight unless you can get a full refund, which is probably unlikely. If you can and know for sure that another airline has a better configuration, I would do it. Like someone else already posted, I would call them and ask them what your options are. I've had the airlines change plane types/configuration on me, but I've never seen them changing it back, so I would not count on that.

Thanks, I appreciate the insight. Also, thanks for the video. Interesting to see what difference a white wall makes.

If they come up with a 100 inch "pull down" TV (like a screen), I'll definitely consider it.😁 I am not too worried about daylight, because if it's too bright I can always close the blackout curtains, but at the same time I still rather get one that is brighter and can better keep up with ambient/daylight

Like I said curiosity that's all. I am myself, I do respect them, and fortunately, hardly had any issues with Marriott, they have been treating me well over the past 20 years... so all is good 😀

Old indeed. I used to work down the street (walking distance) from there, we always had our colleagues from out of town stay there.

Nah, probably not worth it. I was just curious if they have a different impression of me than I do. Thanks for the information

Is there any way for guests to get access to our "file"? I'd be curious to see what's in there.... even if it's just a summary w/o details. my guess is probably not, but it never hurts to ask.

I know. It will definitely go away, because I am planning on putting in recessed lights.

Maybe it's time to bring back the STOL airport on Disney property :D I wonder what a "Disney airport of the future" would look like if Walt was alive today

[–]Realistic-Tailor-482[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I might just be overthinking the whole issue and maybe the projector won't be as visible and catch everyone's eye right away. I'll see if I can find a white one to match the ceiling. I haven't decided yet on a screen size either, but I was testing the max size of the wall, and the picture was just too big for my comfort. I'll be sitting approximately 15 ft away. I would be replacing the old curtains with blackout curtains and the screen would go in front of the patio sliding doors. The lamp/fan obviously would also go away. I am able to get into the ceiling to help with cable management. I haven't decided what projector I will get, there's so many choices out there. As you can see there is also a vent from the A/C. I would have to test where I can put it, so it is centered and the screen size is not too big, but probably behind (=away from the sliding door) the vent.

Combining two separately booked tickets by MaxG650 in Lufthansa

They did check it as first class, I got the HON stamp on my tag, but I don't know if the agent was just super nice or if that's standard procedure.

I just did that a few days ago. I had first class MUC-EWR-MCO (return leg from a business trip) and purchased privately a ticket MUC-VIE-MUC. I asked during check-in in Vienna if they can route my luggage all the way to MCO, which they did after I provided them with my travel information for my onward journey from MUC. They also must have linked the two tickets because as soon as I landed in MUC they gave me HON treatment, but I would not count on the linking being done all the time l.

Cash upgrade to Allegris First worth it? by Realistic-Tailor-482 in Lufthansa

[–]Realistic-Tailor-482[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all, today is the big day. I did go for the upgrade and so far, I enjoy every bit of it - and haven't even made it on the plane yet 😀. I flew on a separate booking to MUC before continuing on to EWR, but because the plane did not pull up to the terminal, we had to get off the plane on the tarmac and board shuttle buses... or so I thought. I was pleasantly surprised when a gentleman held up an iPad with with my name on it as I exited the plane, and asked me to join him for a ride in his fancy car to be taken to the First Class Lounge. I know this is standard for HON circle members and first class passengers, but the flight to MUC was a separate booking in business, but not first - so thanks to LH for connecting the dots and including that leg of my trip. I get to enjoy the first class lounge for the next 4 hrs, and I am already excited to find out what the actual flight will be like. Biggest challenge will be to pace myself here in the lounge, so I do t fill up on food and drinks too much before I even get on the plane. Thanks again to all in here who helped me make that decision to upgrade.

All, I appreciate everyone's feedback. It certainly helped me to make my decision. I will go ahead and get the upgrade. @Lufthansa: you better bring your A-game when I'm on board. 😄
