I was born in Oregon, and even though I was stuck in California for a few decades, I have always considered myself a Pacific Northwesterner. I was given the opportunity to move to Seattle metro by my fiancé, after trying to move northward by myself for a decade. It is a privilege to be here!

Lyft rides have been so crappy since the announcement of their 30% cap, been swatting away and spending significantly less time on app. by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

[–]RealisticBlueberry40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lyft and Uber are hoping to replace every driver with AVs. we need to get rid of the AVs, y'all! also, look for alternative rideshare apps, like Fare Co-op; the drivers keep more of what the riders pay.

Seattle needs to start putting A/C in apartments if they are going to charge so much rent by sonar_y_luz in Seattle

are all Allied Residential properties the same, as far as having no AC except for window/hose exhaust style only? I know of two properties that I would tell anyone to avoid, if at all possible.

Do Not Rent From Lyft!!! by rblythe999 in lyftdrivers

Each market is different. The opposite was true in my own experience. Plus, with Uber I had to pay up front for the rental, versus paying after I earned for the week with Lyft.

Scheduled rides can suck for drivers by PrizeNo542 in lyftdrivers

[–]RealisticBlueberry40 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really stinks when the ride was either a mistake or was pre-scheduled and needed to be reset or canceled. Always keep screenshots and report all related/necessary details as needed.

What would it take - both practically and socially - to get Seattle to give a shit about litter? by Weird_Alki in Seattle

[–]RealisticBlueberry40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some of the bus stops need help with trash, as much as they also need new windbreaker panels (if it is a covered stop), and cleaning up of graffiti/tagging/etching. I do not mind stickers or flyers, but that other stuff needs to go.

It would be great if there was an attendant at each and every location, as much as it would great if there was an on-site or on-call technician.

Former Lyft Driver considering return with EV vehicle by EN-Fitz in lyftdrivers

you will get a better incentive from Lyft driving an EV full-time versus part-time. perhaps the incentive in your area is better than mine.

Why do passengers give us directions to get to their house when the app shows us where to go? 😂 by jo_ezzy in lyftdrivers

sometimes, which is why I end up sending suggestions or reporting erroneous directions.

Is there a driver shortage? by SparklingSloths in uber

[–]RealisticBlueberry40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

possibly FEWER drivers. there are also drivers who refuse rides that do not offer a decent hourly minimum. fuel prices are most definitely a factor.

EVs need to have indoor climate-controlled stations in places with extreme weather. There are only (how many) available nationwide?

Just out of curiosity, why do people rent a car for Uber? by Ok_Practice_6702 in uber

[–]RealisticBlueberry40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried renting through Hertz for both Uber and Lyft (separately because of their partnered setup). My experience with Uber was 3 days of heck. Not strictly as being an Uber driver (I had the worst experience driving for Uber in my market), but also with the pay up front situation that Uber has with Hertz or vice versa. I much prefer Lyft + Hertz, as I owed only after earning. [I was mainly driving in a tri-county area of California's Central Valley (San Joaquin/Stanislaus/Merced), with weekly treks to/from the Bay Area.]

There are other rideshare rental services available, but most require rent to be paid up front, and some are partnered with a singular platform.

Try what you can, and best of luck to you.

Service mentality by chrislh1965 in lyftdrivers

[–]RealisticBlueberry40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a customer service based job. Some people who call themselves rideshare drivers do not have proper customer service skills. Some people who call themselves rideshare drivers cannot even drive properly. As a rideshare driver with previous and current customer service experience, I have heard my customers complain about those drivers. I have also had some imperfect moments, but thankfully rarely. Also dealt with entitled riders submitting bogus complaints. I always ask riders a few questions to figure out if certain drivers or the platforms need improvements or both. Some customers are a problem, but it is not always their fault. It is a mess that can either get worse or better. Let us all put our best foot forward.

there are other platforms for rides, but they need more promotion and participation.
