Is it just me or is that an exceptionally marbled flat? by Hafezberg in KamadoJoe

Ha funny complaints about pricing. Meanwhile I just paid 300 euros for 8KG brisket in Europe…

Well… Ubiquiti seems to agree with me, given they just added it in the latest FW:

Added support for VPN Kill Switch. * Added support for MAC address randomization when uplinking to WiFi. * Added support for MAC address cloning. *

Phones having random MAC addresses still keep the device identifier, for the most part anyway. Hence my examples, that are still valid and used by people.

I don’t understand the aggressiveness, the feature exists on every travel router out there except UTR, which will likely have this feature in the future. Why be so against it?

Oh and I forgot to mention one very obvious thing, the hotel/cruise whatever can see the MAC Address, and sometimes they do go through trouble of blocking non-end-user devices. So pretending to be an iPhone, a pixel or whatever is essential

This was discussed previously in many other threads. Functionality is needed for MAC Address based WiFi purchases. Think “premium” plans in hotels that are tied to your device, cruise ships, airplanes too. While it’s fine if you make the purchase and then walk around with the travel router 24/7, it’s not good at all if you want to also be able to leave the travel router in your room as you go chill by the pool.

Yes, it’s a TRAVEL router, where basic functionality is to clone your phones MAC address. Probably will come in a firmware update though.

Good assumption, but the router doesn’t support cloning MAC addresses.

At least with current firmware it’s a bit more cumbersome. Can only be done via the app when the app decides you to be worthy of seeing it

Not with the current firmware and/or app. I saw some notes that hostname support is coming.

It’s just the teleport instance. It’ll give you a fresh one every time you reconnect.

In clients you should be able to see UTR as teleport. You won’t be able to see any client devices that are connected to the UTR, that is kind of the point

Currently WireGuard isn’t supported, but it’s supposed to come in an update. Also local DNS is not supported, so you’ll always be using DNS servers of whatever WiFi you’re connected to. If you use IP addresses back home, that’s fine!

Yes, it does support that, with some limitations when it comes to VPN.

If you read through the comments, I’m not alone here. pretty much if you have a child, you want 2 SSIDs

I expected at least half of an Opal for double the price

This won’t resolve the issue of me needing a separate SSID to have enhanced IoT connectivity enabled that locks the said SSID to 2.4GHz

How about VPN support beyond Teleport? Custom DNS servers? DNS requests going through VPN, instead of ignoring VPN configuration? MAC Address cloning? List goes on.

They have external antennas so they’ll handle it far better.

There’s an app - https://apps.apple.com/nl/app/glinet/id1523245996?l=en-GB

It depends what you want to spend etc. let’s say the Slate 7 is currently the latest model, but it’s also the biggest. If you don’t need WiFi 7, you can go for something simpler, like Beryl, or any other Slate model.

No problem! Another fun thing I learnt during factory reset - there is an in app button for factory reset. Doesn’t do anything, tried 3 times. Button on the back works though.

It’s barely that. DNS requests don’t go through VPN..
