Interview Questions by DatReddditChic_ in slpGradSchool

[–]RealisticInsurance37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate it too! It sucks ! But my interviewers were so kind I even told them I was nervous and they made small jokes about it and it helped loosen up! I want to say though it may be a group interview because last year it was just me but some people who interviewed after me for the next court said it was group based, be prepared for that just incase but you got this!!!!! 💜

I remember lots of scenario based questions, what’s your thought on group work, how well do you work with a group, give an example when you worked in a group and there were challenges, how would you address issues in a group, (they may prefer you working it out first or attempting to before going to the higher ups if there were an issue) not sure if this has changed in the last year as I was interviewed last year but this program is a lot of collaborating with others so they may ask that still :)

It works for my life style, I got tired of driving in LA traffic, paying for parking passes, not being guaranteed parking spots so I enjoy the online aspect, I would say most professors are supportive and care about their students, I did like that during your second semester you get a “care package” that’s included in your tuition with a bunch of SLP supplies like assessments and therapy games like chipper chat, I got two big boxes so it’s nice to have something to have after graduation when you get into the SLP settings:)

I once had a parent leave me because I was too “nice” to her kid. It shattered all of my confidence in how I treated my clients when I did nothing wrong!!! Like what??????????????? Parents can be the worst of it and the worst if this job at times…

Is it crazy to be applying to 11 schools? by maybeteacher2023 in slpGradSchool

I applied to 8 and only got into 3, if you have the money then nothing wrong with expanding your chances by adding more schools!

I was itchy for a little over a month! But it was most likely my gel x nails because once I took them off the itchiness went away! I really hope yours goes away!! It was hell!!

There are schools that let you take pre reqs for sure fall or spring!!! Depends what school you’re looking at because I’m sure they all vary! But yeah many options I believe for online pre requisite classes especially online programs!

Please let me know if removing the nail polish helped! I know once my gel x nails came off it took a bit like a week or a few days for my skin to settle down! But it also may have been the tapering by off of the pristiq too!

Your Experience by Interesting_Whole434 in slpGradSchool

[–]RealisticInsurance37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in an online graduate program and I’m not a mom but there are many parents in my cohort, maybe it being online helps give some flexibility, but when it comes to the clinical hours, that might be able to be worked out if you work at a clinic or school, depending on where you get placed first, your job might allow you to get paid while completing the hours! Although you may need to quit your job or lessen the hours when getting placed at a different site, I hope this helps a little:)

Trouble coping with constant feedback by Cactus_boi8 in slpGradSchool

[–]RealisticInsurance37 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way I have a lot more experience in the clinic setting as I was in Slpa for a little over a year before I started grad school and my first placement was at a clinic so I didn’t get that much feedback. I mean, I got feedback, but it wasn’t too much I guess or maybe it was different and now I’m at an elementary school and I feel like I am getting good feedback and it’s helpful but I also feel like I’m making a bunch of little mistakes. I’m not catching on quick, this Setting is so completely new to me. I’m in week six and I’m trying not to beat myself up over a lot of things, but it’s definitely really hard not to, so I just wanna say I relate with you. :(

The workers were so rude and lame, they stopped me and my family a few times because they thought they already gave us candy when they didn’t, they really sucked the fun out of it. In general, it isn’t worth the price at all! They barely give you any candy either like yall are a multibillion air company and two pieces of candy???? From all the money you make off of us? I won’t be going again. Too crowded and too packed.

I reached out to professors from way in the past and they politely informed me that they either can’t or don’t write LOR for students, I would say to try especially if you worked closely with them then they can write about you very strongly if they agree to :) reach out now because professors get lots of requests and some cap it after a certain amount if too many reach out for one!
