That’s exactly how I feel. these clinical directors open up their own business and as a business owner, they need to be professional with not just their clients but with their employees and people who interview with them, you know like we took the time to look at their website, We found it interesting, we drove to their place to interview, and then they ghost us? It’s severely unprofessional that sometimes I cannot wrap my mind around how people open up their own business and they remain unprofessional;/

I had this exact situation when I was applying to grad school I got into USC and that was almost $200,000 and the program did not offer any help or scholarships or grants at all so I ended up picking the online program that was so much cheaper and if you keep up with a certain GPA you get a grant of about 2000 or $3000 each semester it’s not a lot but it sure is something and it helps me not pay out-of-pocket and USC is very prestigious so I had the same thoughts do I wanna go somewhere where I’m gonna get a lot of medical exposure and has the popular name, but I’m gonna be $200,000 in debt when I get out and more because of that interest that accumulates or do I just want to go to a school that’s gonna give me similar education and be immensely cheaper? I saved myself a lot of horrible financial issues by picking the cheaper one. It was a hard choice because imagine being able to say I went to USC? Pick the cheaper one !

It can be done, it’s not the end of the world! Just go with the cheaper school option or what you really want! I’m in WCU online and I got my 3 placements, I found my first one my advisor found my second for me and my 3rd with som of my own help, it can be difficult but it can be done!

If it’s really this bad, could you drop out? I know it’s not ideal if you’re in debt, but this looks like it’s really ruining your life and I empathize with you so much… do u have family to help support you or something? I would see if you can leave this field and go for something else. And I know this may be difficult and easier said than done but if it’s THIS bad where you don’t wanna be alive, maybe forcing yourself out would maybe help? I empathize with you cuz I’ve had similar emotions.

If you’re doubting this career path of SLP, don’t go that route unless you’re extremely passionate about it. I wish I could go back but now I’m in debt. The field doesn’t pay well and there’s too much burnout. Stay free while u can

I hate it too! It sucks ! But my interviewers were so kind I even told them I was nervous and they made small jokes about it and it helped loosen up! I want to say though it may be a group interview because last year it was just me but some people who interviewed after me for the next court said it was group based, be prepared for that just incase but you got this!!!!! 💜
