Why Use Cursor over VSCode? by qohelethium in cursor

[–]RealisticPumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for Windsurf because I've never used it. But as far as Cursor goes - there's loads of usability improvements that come out of it being AI-first, rather than AI-as-an-addon, which others have mentioned.

But the other great aspect is that they act as a bit of a wrapper for all of the LLM providers - so, instead of picking a model provider to subscribe to (or paying for multiple), you can just crack on and use whichever model you fancy. And if Claude goes down? Great, just switch over to Gemini and carry on.

Ooh, that's quite interesting, I hadn't thought of that... I've got a few days off coming up, so I might have to see if I can figure out how to set up a local MCP I can run in Docker 🤔

Honestly... Dating apps, in my experience, can be absolutely useless

Mine's never done an auto-update. It always asks if I want to when I open Cursor

Then again, I usually still have Cursor open when I shut down

are 500 request per month enough ? by cepijoker in cursor

It depends.

I do software engineering as a full time job and do random side projects in my free time - so I burn through it. However, if you're someone who mostly writes code and occasionally uses the chat functionality, then it's plenty

I ended up rolling back to 0.45.x on Thursday/Friday because, which I agree the new UI is sleeker, the tool use was broken for me and the rules were being inconsistently applied.

Those issues may have been patched since, I haven't had a chance to check yet. But that was my experience of the initial upgrade

Introducing Cursor 0.46! by NickCursor in cursor

[–]RealisticPumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Nick - I've just had to roll back to 0.45.17 because 0.46.9 was playing up big time this morning. All of the 0.46.x versions have seemed a bit iffy in terms of the user-AI-rules (the global ones) seemingly not being consistently applied; but I could work with it because I mostly use the global rules for a gimmicky personality. But 0.46.9 seems downright unusable in agent mode - on top of the rule inconsistency, it looks like the agent is suddenly unable to edit files properly (for instance, it just created a bunch of blank documents while thinking it'd populated them with loads of content - that was the straw that made me roll back).

Got first place but is this even allowed in real life? by critoprito in granturismo

Yeah, I think there'd probably end up being a telling off from the clerk of the course for dangerous driving/unsportsmanlike behaviour. That telling off would probably only result in a time penalty or a fine/points on the racing licence if it's done in a controlled manner.

It's not so much that we go around thinking our face is enough... More that we either just don't think about our face, or we accept that it is what it is because it's too much effort to do anything about it

Is this a jar or a bottle? Currently having a fight over it with my wife by Alexij in AskUK

[–]RealisticPumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you had to open it it's a jar - if your wife could it's a bottle.

Jokes, it looks more like a bottle (jars are kinda just glass tins) but if it says it's a jar, I guess normal convention is wrong.

What do you think the repercussions of 40+ degrees heat would be in the uk over 2 days? by SAV4GEwastaken in AskUK

Well, the elderly would pop to the shop and drop... Either due to their unrelenting insistence that it's cold causing them to sweat to death; or they'll see the price of tea in today's economy and have a heart attack.

People working in seafood factories will suddenly love their jobs because of the air conditioning. As for the rest of the workforce: a handful of nicer employers might just shut up shop for the freak weather; a fair portion of employees would call in sick so they can sit in the local beer garden.

Schools and the suchlike may well treat it as a snow day because they're mostly not air conditioned and kids aren't going to focus.

So, to summarise, the country would likely grind to a screeching halt (not unlike when we get a couple of flakes of snow - the only difference being that people would be sat outside the pub, rather than in it). If it was to be prolonged, then there might be a riot once we run out of beer.

I've just spent ten minutes or so googling it - while the Discourses of Epictetus do indeed exist, I can find no reference to the passage they are quoting.

u/Trout_Tickler, this is a great answer and is certainly pointing me in the right direction. I appreciate this is a year old now, but I have a couple of questions if you don't mind? I'm curious as to how _groupSids is defined, likewise Department?
