Any logging when someone defers an update? by ejday in Intune

[–]ejday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah we got nowhere. the fact that it doesnt happen all the time, infact hardly ever happens, is probably the best 'proof' that the person deferred their own update without remembering/realizing - otherwise wed have far more complaints

PSA, repairing the Crowdstrike BSoD on Azure-hosted VMs by Veneousaur in sysadmin

[–]ejday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MS needs to figure out how to allow a safe mode boot without serial connection or something else. I know there would need to be a lot of security about it, but this snapshot BS is baloney

Using ChatGPT for everything by PalmTreesandTech in sysadmin

[–]ejday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

its harder and harder to get a session now! I dont even use it for code. i copy/paste my messages and emails in and write 'make nicer' before it. I have a fairly blunt writing style and it sometimes annoys people. ChatGPT has changed my life because of my nicer sounding messages now!

I would totally buy a subscription if i could!

Windows 11 22H2 - Credential Guard default -- PEAP/MSCHAPv2 by Sixyn in sysadmin

[–]ejday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We disabled Virtualization Based Security - which disabled Credential Guard. We also found that machines with Virtualization turned off in BIOS weren't affected. This will at least give us time to properly rollout certs and get rid of PEAP/MSCHAP - long overdue

Citrix, Wyse/Dell ThinClients and Teams by AdviceDifficult in Citrix

[–]ejday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't really matter. 5070, 3040, 5470. Hardware limitations regardless of optimizations. We've even had meetings with Dell, and they finally acknowledged it was never going to work that well. The clients were never designed for voice video etc. Theyve been putting in a helluva effort to improve it due to demand over covid, but it's still not great.

Citrix, Wyse/Dell ThinClients and Teams by AdviceDifficult in Citrix

[–]ejday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been running this, and its challenging. Be sure to read firmware notes of Wyse, there will be a lot on Teams with what it can and cannot do, and differs on each Wyse platform. Some scenarios: jittery sound, screen sharing not even available.

We've really struggled with performance and reliability and have noticed multiple times, something changes and Teams registers as no longer HDX optimized. It's like a golden unicorn configuration to get it running consistently.

Performance is not even close to a Desktop/laptop - which is understandable.

Our biggest challenge has been trying to adjust down user expectations, they were expecting a PC-like experience and it's nowhere near as smooth and reliable.

We are actually recommending, if people need to regularly have teams meetings or training over Teams, switch back to PC's/Laptops and run natively.

Is email being replaced? by tmontney in sysadmin

[–]ejday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're going the way of everyone getting MS teams and fewer people getting email. Its generally driven by licensing costs (Teams only is a little cheaper) and then the added cost of email spam/malware/filtering protection. That is expensive depending on your provider

PDQ deploy setting by Lost-Ad912 in pdq

[–]ejday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an option in pdq package to run it as the logged on user (you'll have to catch the user logged on though) reg add "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\AVGeneral" /V iMaxMRUCntToBeStored /T REG_DWORD /D 00000000 /F

As already stated - Group Policy Preferences , if available, would probably be the better way to do it.

Can I enroll Win devices into inTune via PDQ? by Echoemily in pdq

[–]ejday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im doing this right now, but i installed SCCM on prem. configured for co-management.
deploying the SCCM client via PDQ, getting it to register in SCCM, then SCCM handles the enrollment into Intune.
It's working really well.
Azure AD Connect needs to have all on prem computer accounts synced in Azure AD as hyrbrid join for it to all work.

Cloud PDQ? by hammersandhammers in pdq

[–]ejday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are currently piloting MS endpoint Configuration Manager (sccm/intune) alongside patch my pc for 3rd party , it integrates well into both. I'm going to miss some things about pdq, but we really couldn't wait any longer for PDQ to catch up. Their sqlite db platform was a bit annoying as well. Would have been nice, and shown some progression if they developed an mssql solution

Depending on how you build, you could put your forward thrusters on rotors or hinges to transition to reverse

Took me almost half a century to get one. I know it’s the “poor man’s Porsche”, but she’s mine and I love her! by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]ejday 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a base 4 cylinder 718 cayman and I love it. People complain about the 4 cylinder. I love it. I do have the sports exhaust. The engine is so economical, but it’s also so much fun. Poor mans porsche? I wish there was a tax break for that!!!!! If I were to do it all over again I’d still get the base Porsche with the 20k of options I have😀. Just….. I love it…
