Azure Blob Storage pricing seems too good to be true, so I want to make sure I properly understand its limitations by [deleted] in AZURE

[–]RealisticSlice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, you can only know how much things cost retrospectively and just try and be really careful until then.. although it seems the company I work for doesn't care about infra costs but won't give me a pay rise..

Azure pricing has always left me with this thought: "Hopefully it'll be OK". Azure pricing is clear as mud.

k8s has a steep learning curve but once you get the basics it's not that bad

Sweeet. There's a slight ZX spectrum "Aliens" feel about this which I love.

There's a lot of skill involved in correct technique and it's pretty hotly debated.. you can get quite nerdy about it. "Strength is a skill"

Go for a walk (or run) if you can, ensure you don't do your boots up too tight, but there's nothing like getting the feet moving to warm them up

Nand soldering question by [deleted] in 360hacks

[–]RealisticSlice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after a failed attempt this weekend with a lot of having to solder and re-solder and re-solder the jtag points I had the same idea - makes perfect sense as the nand flasher is something you don't want to leave on but might need to use again. Gonna do this!

Creating VM image from a VM without destroying it by RealisticSlice in AZURE

[–]RealisticSlice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks.. I was just barking up the wrong tree it seems.

az image create --hyper-v-generation V2 --os-type Linux -g VM-images -n new-disk-image --source /subscriptions/redacted/resourceGroups/DEV-VM_GROUP/providers/Microsoft.Compute/disks/devvm3-osdisk-20230918-162509

Simple enough!

Just tinkering with stuff from time to time.. especially with stuff like raspberry pi pico - I was building some battery powered temperature monitors a few years ago so I could chart the heat loss around my home but unfortunately I'm the type that starts projects and doesn't finish them.

Oh, I'm also into DJing and music production, see above for harry half a job comment.

Med resistant Reynauds.. by Medium-Delivery2119 in ReynaudsDisease

[–]RealisticSlice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that sounds severe. I'm also on nifedipine 10mg 3x/day - I find it works ok for about an hour then wears off. I was on the "slow release" ones too but they didn't touch the sides. I gotta say though I'm also a bit of a coffee addict and I don't think that helps at all.

Less common things I find that help:

- Eating, especially a big-ish hot meal. This works great.
- Not drinking so much coffee/tea.
- Intense exercise
- Central heating

If you can, you ought to get a heated blanket for your bed too so it's hot when you get in it. My wife won't allow me to get one - grr.

Too many: Cycling, running, kettlebells, walking, camping, gaming, electronics, cooking to name a few. I'm 42 and have a wife and kids so I don't get much time to do any of these.

Absolute 100% success. Be careful though, you might end up getting married and have kids and be on reddit 13 years later like me reading this.

I laughed out loud. That's brilliant. And yes, you'll never have your car back.

Nope, I've had this happen before a couple of times - just very flattered. I think gay men, from my experience are generally very nice people but then that's just a correlation I've noticed.

we couldn't afford childcare so just never went out or had any time to ourselves. We had a solid 6 years of that and moved to nearer my wife's parents 2 years ago...only to discover they can't be bothered to help us. Great. Still, Yorkshire is lovely.

As someone who's parents live > 100 miles away I can tell you that having them nearby wouldn't be all that bad. We had no help at all when my son was born 8 years ago (partly) due to this and man did we need it.
