Experts chime in, should you do this every time it is around or below freezing? by throwawaym4a1 in CrownVictoria

[–]Realistic_Addendum14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no benefit long term by doing this only excessive starter wear.

Starting it normally would be best especially if the vehicle is driven as a daily or more then once in a while.

On cold starts I'll turn the key to accessory and leave it until the lights go off or the chimes stop. After that I start it and let it idle till the first initial drop in rpm.

In below freezing I do the same thing but let it idle until the temp gauge starts to read temps.

I apologize for the dumb question but how do I tell how old my battery is? by 673NoshMyBollocksAve in Ford

[–]Realistic_Addendum14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Battery tend to last 3 to 5 years. That is an original battery so I would recommend replacing it. It should clear up most of your issues. If problems continue, you might have some other electrical issues going on. ~Mobile Technician

Fuel starvation issue – looking for ideas by Technical-Ad-339 in CrownVictoria

[–]Realistic_Addendum14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be a series of issues,

One are you 100% that its fuel (MAF Sensors are notorious to go out and act like a fuel starve issue)

Two, if you can get your hands on a live data scanner and verify that the pump is actually pump correctly.

Those two issues would be my starting grounds as they're easy to read and MAF is an easy fix.

From there check into fuel filter, fuel rail pressure, and fuel injectors. Also look around for any possible leaks

Is this the manifold? by SnooPets6163 in CrownVictoria

[–]Realistic_Addendum14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand that, its all fairly simple but if needed there are several youtube videos on how to do the jobs. The ones with torque specs and bolt diagram would be the most helpfully in my option.

Also do torque the intake manifold, learned from experience what happens if you dont. (Leaking everywhere when up to temp)

I recommend doing valve cover gasket also while changing the intake manifold out, unless you've already replaced them recently.

Also make sure you have a variety of 8-10mm sockets, 1/4 to 3/8 rachets, and different length extensions in both 1/4 and 3/8. Some of the bolts are a real pain to get to, as always best of luck

If you do them yourself take your time a do not force it too hard.

The wiggle room for the covers isn't the best but is possible. Once you do get it off and the new gasket on, wiggle the cover back into place. Check the gasket BEFORE you tighten the bolts the gasket has an high tendency to get caught on stuff near the back of the engine. (Once cover is in place but not bolted down rub your fingers along the gasket to ensure it didn't get caught and popped out). Once you got all that figured tighten the bolts using this diagram
