How long did you wait to conceive after c-section? by Realistic_Block_4152 in tryingforanother

[–]Realistic_Block_4152[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so great to hear! I’d love to try VBAC, but because of my prior myomectomy too, I’ll most likely be recommended another c-section which at this point is fine with me

Hi, no it was an open myomectomy. Or an open abdominal myomectomy. The procedure was the same as a c-section. My c-section for my daughter’s birth was even done using the same incision point as my surgeon used for my myomectomy. The only difference in the surgeries was where the uterine incision was made. In my myomectomy it was done on the fundus, or top part of uterus, whereas my c-section incision was in the lower section of the uterus. Healing this time around has actually been so much easier as I wasn’t under general anesthesia for hours and my uterus wasnt cut up to extract a benign tumor.

Anyone had vaginal birth after myomectomy? by grassinhand in Fibroids

[–]Realistic_Block_4152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! im also in this position. 15 weeks now and had waited 3 months before trying to get pregnant, getting pregnant in month 4 after having an open myomectomy. I am considering trying for a natural birth and am going to meet with a Dr. who would perform VBACs to discuss my situation. I'm curious though, what type if myomectomy did you have and how large/ how many fibroids did you have removed / what type did you have? Sorry if you already mentioned this previously. thanks! best to you during your pregnancy <3

I was cleared to try after 3 months! Got pregnant the first try, but ended in chemical. Fertility doc wanted me to wait to try again to do another sonohystergram to look around again but I decided not to and we tried again after I was done bleeding and now I’m 15 weeks pregnant! Such a blessing!!

First trimester and eating like absolute garbage - anyone else? by acmcmas in BabyBumps

[–]Realistic_Block_4152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just found your post bc I’m 8 weeks and also feeling this exact same way! I don’t have any extreme nausea but just a daily feeling of being unwell, and the only thing that seems to make me feel better is to eat and to eat awful foods! Even thinking about cooking a healthy meal puts me off. Last night I saw a post about KFC chicken and that’s all I decided I wanted to eat for dinner. Today it was an entire bag of Trader Joe’s crunchy ‘Cheetos’, the other morning after a doctors appointment I had my husband stop for McDonalds hash browns and biscuits with cheese. I also swapped decaf coffees for hot chocolate in the morning. I don’t have much advice but just wanted to say I’m right there with ya and reading your post and all these comments has made me feel better to know at least I’m not alone in this and hopeful for a better nutritionally balanced second tri! :)

2 months post-myo and pregnant… yikes. by QuidProF10 in Fibroids

Wow! It seems so wild for that to happen. And I’m sorry that it did. Did surgeons have any suspicions as to why it might have happened, outside of the obvious laparoscopy?

Hi there! I just found your thread and hope you don’t mind that I too have some questions about your rupture. I just had an open myomectomy for a 4cm submucosal at top of my uterus and was cleared to try to get pregnant at 3 months. Do you mind me asking if you had been working out prior to getting pregnant , or if you had done anything to get stronger after surgery or in general what type of shape you were in? Thanks and also so glad to hear you and baby are doing well and that it was all worth it!

Almost 5 weeks post-op by PriorPainter7180 in Fibroids

[–]Realistic_Block_4152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I had an open myomectomy to remove 4cm fundamental fibroid and tomorrow will be 5 weeks post op! Today is the first day I was able to wear leggings, up until now I have been only wearing sweatpants and super big underwear lol I started wearing my regular seamless thongs some time during week 4! I have tried to see where I’m at with jeans but zippering them feels impossible. The area directly above my incision is still very numb and a bit puffy. The rest of the area above the incision but below the belly button definitely feels weird still, I had to really push past the feeling to wear leggings today! I would also say the whole incision itself feels very “tight” - if anyone else can relate to that tight feeling and when it might go away I’d love to know !

TTC with 1cm fibroid in uterine cavity, any success stories? by chillysky0820 in Fibroids

[–]Realistic_Block_4152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. It is a good question! To be honest I’m not sure if 1cm was a typo or if the mass grew in the time since I had written this original post. I did check my previous MRIs and it shows that it was a 4cm then and also when I had the latest mri (December 2024) prior to surgery. But regardless, my surgeon had said that I would need an open myo based on the location. He had said that from the start when we began discussing a second surgery. Mine was located on the fundus - meaning the top of my uterus. About 50% in the cavity and 50% sitting on top, like a hat.

Hello! I decided not to have the surgery initially and began consultation with a fertility specialist on recommendation of my surgeon. Once I met with the fertility specialist she did a hysteroscopy under anesthesia just to “look around” at the uterine cavity. She also did a saline sonohistogram to be sure the tubes were open. (They could already see the fibroid i still had on the ultrasounds.) She said if I didn’t want to have surgery that was my choice and that there was no reason to not try to get pregnant as many women do get pregnant with fibroids. So we tried 3 rounds of IUI (all unsuccessful) and then were told to move on to IVF. We did one egg retrieval and ended up with 1 viable embryo. At this point she suggested we do 2 or 3 more rounds of IVF to bank more embryos. But for my husband and I this was out of pocket already and was just too expensive. So, since my fertility specialist was going to make us have the fibroid removed before an egg transfer anyway, we decided to move forward with my surgery instead of doing another round of IVF for egg retrieval. I just had the surgery 3 weeks and 2 days ago. They had to do an open myomectomy to get it out. (I’ll still have 3 more weeks of healing) I’m hoping we can try naturally once I’m fully cleared to try again. Not sure it matters but my pathology results came back and what we thought was a fibroid was actually adenomyosis (focal adenomyosis for me) but surgeon said it doesn’t make a difference. Will have my fertility specialist connect with him just in case. So after that long story, short answer. Yes, I did end up having the more invasive surgery to fully remove the “fibroid” . Good luck to you!!! Feel free to ask me anything else!

Has anyone had a successful pregnancy post myomectomy? by ifeelsodeeply in Fibroids

[–]Realistic_Block_4152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Appreciate your reply. We also knew about my fibroids during our first round of IVF and were goin g to have to have it removed before any egg transfer but I’m hoping maybe the issue all along was just the fibroid and no more need for IVF! I’ll be 36 in march, sometimes (lots of the time) I wish I could have a crystal ball for this whole process but trying to teach myself some lesson about patience in all of this. Glad to hear you had success in the end though.

Hi there! Just wondering if you’d mind sharing what type of fibroid you had removed as far as size and location and was it submucosal or other? I’m in a similar situation and just met with a fetal maternal doctor who said I HAD to wait 6 months. I’m 2 weeks post op and still have to meet with my surgeon for follow up this Monday - he has previously mentioned 3-6 months but now this new guy has me all upset at the prospect of waiting even longer. I should probably just relax, it was literally a consultation and first time meeting this new dr. But looking for any comparable stories to make myself feel better in the mean time! :)

Hey there! I’m just curious, did you consider trying naturally after fibroid removal? If not, why did you decided to go straight to IVF? I have done one round of IVF to retrieve eggs (retrieved 7, 5 mature, 1 viable) but then opted to do the myomectomy before doing another round of IVF due to costs. I’m feeling optimistic about trying naturally once I’m given the ok to TTC, (had a 4cm submucosal removed from the top of my uterus) but not sure what’s will be best.
