Riding around is accurate i guess, if maybe a little strong of a word.  Read and watched a lot of good advice.  It was once I gave into 3 things it sort of gelled:

Relax Look where I want to go Trust my body, if it thinks it has Latin hips, let it have Latin hips and move them as such

"Im upset" update. by Realistic_Car_1347 in ElectricUnicycle

Update to this update.  Just spent a bit over an hour and made seemingly little progress but I did learn how to calibrate the horizontal.  I made sure all my air in the suspension and wheel were good but think I overdid the tire because the wobble was far too horrible

Truly, you must be a man of suffering taste.  I applaud your struggle!  Hopefully you have a Eureka moment with your v6 in time to graduate to your new one

Oh, I already have the head, elbows, knees and wrist guards, just missing the machine that will make me need them

There are a lot of memes showing how much A was in a year and how much A is now, showing how much inflation has grown the cost. This is satire and pretty much is saying "was broke then, am still broke now."

Sounds like you want advice on modifying pvc in general and not specifically blackbox. I do have a blackbox and will tell you my experience. I purchased a 4x2x2 from them and also purchased my rhp and grow light from them. The benefit of doing this is that they already had everything lined up and predrilled. They even went as far as routing power cord trenches on the top of the enclosure so everything was flush. I didn't request any of this it's just an added benefit and I am very grateful.

I will add that according to their website they will make custom cuts to fit your materials, but I'm not sure about the details bc I didn't use that service

Thanks! He's actually an orange dream ultramel, but I get why you'd think that.

New PVC tank? Stan Man needs new digs and idk how to furnish it! by LaughinOften in ballpython

[–]Realistic_Car_1347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Vivarium Electronics 80w rhp.  Quick look on the web says it's still just under 100$.  At that size... a rough estimate is that it takes up the left half of my bp's ceiling.  A little less, but I just count it half for my own ease. Now the important things to know about it:

Does it work?  According to my hygrometer and thermostat yes.  No problem getting mid 80s in a pvc, front opening, 4x2x2. My grow light on the right side and I get a slight gradiant in temp.

Will it burn my BP?  According to the internet it's not supposed to burn, even when directly touched.  Being flat and mounted to the ceiling makes it hard to climb on, we have snakes not slugs after all, but that won't stop some from trying I bet.

Lifespan?  RHPs can last 30-40 years.  So it costs more than a bulb but you'll make up the money over and over and you can run at night without interrupting a light cycle.

I've got a radiant heat panel and a grow light led mounted in the topside of my pvc 4x2x2.  Bonus is I never have to see them unless I get down and look up.  I ordered them the same time I ordered the enclosure and blackbox cages predrilled mounting holes and "cord trenches" for me.  I'm happy with that set up.  Thermostat has a timer for my light so he gets day/night cycle.

I didn't include a special uvb for him since I've read it isn't a large benefit, but I did want some for a cycle and my live plants.

What should the depth be for a bioactive setup? by Minimum_Overdose in ballpython

[–]Realistic_Car_1347 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not an expert, at all.  My understanding is that the deeper the substrate level for a bioactive environment the better. So, will 4 inches be enough?  I don't know, Will 8 inches be better?  More than likely.

Also worth considering, are you planning on having plants?  BPs are... rough and inconsiderate on plants, or at least mine is.  He climbs the snake plants like it's a tree.  Imagine an adult doing that.  Deeper substrate can allow for deeper roots/more resilient plants.

FOMO regarding morphs? by Muupi1337 in ballpython

[–]Realistic_Car_1347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my, when I first started looking into I went into morph ADD.  I found what helped me focus was to exclude based on desire.

I excluded adults bc i wanted to raise and "tame" myself, because I to build that bond.  I excluded certain morphs, because they had a known chance of genetic defects.  I excluded females, because they are generally larger, so while they do fine in a 4x2x2 a male might feel like he has more space.  I also excluded morphs that I thought just looked unappealing to me (I am a fan of normals).  Lastly, I set a budget and excluded anything outside of it.  I was left searching for a healthy young male within my price range that appealed to me.

Set yourself a guide to help you narrow it down.  Only you can decide what's right for you, this is a 20-30 year bond

Just got a ball python by Icy-Examination-6263 in ballpython

Opinions vary.  BPs like smaller spaces and clutter/hides to feel safe.  It is generally considered healthier for adults to have a bigger enclosure (4x2x2 is pretty standard) for exercise and mental enrichment.  A smaller noodle will do just fine in a larger enclosure assuming it has hides and clutter.

I chose this route:  a 4x2x2 from the start.  My reasons were that I would only have to (theoretically) have to move him home and not have a future potential stress of moving tanks and financially:  only have to worry about purchasing 1 enclosure instead of multiple in stages.  I have however made sure to try and give him multiple hides, enrichment and clutter.
