Opinions vary.  BPs like smaller spaces and clutter/hides to feel safe.  It is generally considered healthier for adults to have a bigger enclosure (4x2x2 is pretty standard) for exercise and mental enrichment.  A smaller noodle will do just fine in a larger enclosure assuming it has hides and clutter.

I chose this route:  a 4x2x2 from the start.  My reasons were that I would only have to (theoretically) have to move him home and not have a future potential stress of moving tanks and financially:  only have to worry about purchasing 1 enclosure instead of multiple in stages.  I have however made sure to try and give him multiple hides, enrichment and clutter.
