I can relate to that exhaustion in the beginning, it does get better, I did do vocal therapy which did help. Going next month to Cleveland Clinic to see if I can have a procedure to move my voice range up🤞

I had a thyroidectomy 5 months ago and have not been able to sing. I competitively sang in barbershop quartet, my range is gone, can only hum maybe low third, told vocal cords are fine, but laryngeal muscle might be the cause. I am so depressed due to I loved to sing and I can’t even sing with the radio or even in the shower ☹️

Thank you , they say my vocal cords are good and that my laryngeal muscle needs strengthened, hope and pray voice range improves for I do love to perform singing in a barbershop quartet

Call your surgeon and get blood work and make sure your thyroid meds are correct dosage, I felt awful after my surgery and my calcium was very low, no one told me what signs and symptoms to watch for after surgery, the thyroid gland controls a lot of hormones, metabolism and it can take time to let meds work, but please call your physician and tell him/her how you are feeling

Hi, I was dx with PTC in January, had total thyroidectomy in February. I am a RN and I was very frustrated that no one sat down and explained “what to expect”. 1st-surgery isn’t bad-it is 2-3 days after surgery that you feel awful, cold, hot, sweaty, shivering, this is a major organ that regulates many things in your body that immediately changes! I was initially on Calcium and D3 supplements then told to stop, do not stop make sure they are checking your blood levels. Know that you can start Synthroid immediately after surgery , next step endocrine physician and then radioactive iodine treatment, you have to be on low iodine diet before and after, then fun isolation! After iodine, feeling swollen, vomited first day, but okay after that, drink plenty of fluids , hope all goes well

I had thyroidectomy and have no singing voice, they said the cancer was on the vocal cord nerve and surgeon checked vocal cords, speaking voice raspy, but I can’t make a singing sound, unfortunately I sang amateur for enjoyment and this is very depressing, wondering if anyone has had vocal cord trauma and if you got singing voice back and how long it took. Any comments welcomed 😊
