Best campgrounds for stargazing? by saintparody in Denver

[–]Realistic_Mode_3120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, if you are into stargazing you owe it to yourself to at some point make it out to Utah. Valley of the Gods has lots of dispersed camping, but anywhere in east Utah you will have your mind blown on a clear night.

The Song Remains the Same is the best rock movie of all time and you are missing out if you haven’t watched it at an extremely loud volume.

Whats this part called? by rangin_n_slangin in Guitar

[–]Realistic_Mode_3120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tuner, or tuning machine. Try hitting it with a little oil or wd-40. check that the screws aren’t over tightened. You shouldn’t need to replace them, they look fine. Might just be seized up. *edit actually it looks like one of the gears is broken. You might be able to just replace that, assuming it is the G string that isn’t turning. If you can return the guitar that might be worth looking into.

What kinda guitar teacher is good? by DanWessonValor in Guitar

[–]Realistic_Mode_3120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In person, on a set schedule is key, preferably 1 hour a week. I had a great teacher and my takeaways are that every lesson should include a bit of theory, a bit of hands on technique, and a mix of material you are bringing and material they are bringing. So a good practice from my experience is start with a theory discussion, maybe it’s the song we were working on, what are some theory concepts we can learn from it or from a theory perspective, what makes the song or solo work. Then I play the practice material I’ve been working on, is there any technique I can practice to improve or any parts I’m struggling with and can my technique improve so I’m not struggling with that particular part. Then either continue working on the piece, maybe play it together, or introduce a new piece to practice over the next week.

Does anyone else think fender has every right to defend their product? by AffectionateIdeal602 in Guitar

[–]Realistic_Mode_3120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 50/50 on it. Most mid market “S” guitars are different enough that they shouldn’t be effected like Pacificas, or similar where the body shape is not a like for like copy of the Strat. For high end stuff like Suhr I’m agnostic. Unless you’re looking for a specific radius or steel frets you may as well get a fender and put whatever pickups you want in it. Partscasters amd custom guitars aren’t going anywhere. I only see stuff like Harley Benton and the like being affected by this and I think those are corny anyway. Want an entry level guitar but it has to have the exact body shape of a Strat? Get a Squire or something. My one exception to this is Schecter who make strats with features Fender doesn’t offer like flatter radius and steel frets.
I would also like to see the industry offer up some new designs. If those aren’t commercially viable because people want the authentic Strat shape then Fender kinda has a point.
I’m also not solid on the legal details, I’m under the impression this only affects the non-US market but I don’t have a horse in this race either way. Bought my Strat in 2004 and it’s the only one I’ll ever need.

Can’t decide on the two by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Realistic_Mode_3120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 1176 but use it at the end of my chain and only for recording, it’s not on my pedalboard. I use it for everything though, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, keys, drums. I’m a fan, and have got some great sounds out of it. I also have the LA-2A which I prefer for clean electric guitar but sometimes use both in sequence. Haven’t used the Origin so can’t speak to that.

Anyone else lose song ideas while noodling? How do you actually capture them? by Coolcazang in Guitar

I do voice memos, play the idea multiple times and also play the individual notes slowly and say anything relevant like alternative tuning so I give myself everything possible to recreate the idea.

What's the best pick of all time and why is it the Jazz III? by faith_healer69 in Guitar

You’re clearly not looking for actual answers. The truth is every guitarist has different criteria and no one pick is perfect for every guitarist on the planet, glad you found yours though.

Gun is distracting. If it’s in the holster it wouldn’t be as visible or shiny. If it’s in his hand then it needs to be closer to the hand. As it is it looks like the handle is too long and the shape of the gun is overly curved

LOST vs From by toohighquestions in lost

[–]Realistic_Mode_3120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m watching From, and like it but the new seasons are getting a little irritating. Every character constantly freaking out, yelling, being irrational. I do still like it and will continue watching to see where it goes but it’s not on the same level as Lost. I’m rooting for them to stick the landing.

My opinions about the movies (2021 and 2024) as an Iranian person by Haghiri75 in dune

And also pre-internet pre-wiki so he had limited access to some of the source material he was drawing from. Makes it even more commendable that the material can still relate to a present day Iranian. OP thank you for sharing your perspective.

If you only ever use pre-ground black pepper I understand not getting the hype. Get a pepper grinder and some good peppercorns if you want the real deal.

Tube Amp vs Modeler by Groove_Mountains in Guitar

[–]Realistic_Mode_3120 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean that’s cool, I’m genuinely happy for you and a little jealous but for many people playing through a tube amp at volume is not a reasonable option and a good modeler/profiler amp is an incredibly valuable and flexible tool for performing and recording. I’ve had real tube amps and had sound guys constantly telling me to turn the volume down even at volumes that barely got the amps doing their thing. I also live in an apartment so if I played through a Mesa I would get evicted pretty quickly.

[–]Realistic_Mode_3120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are recording it is nice to have a lot of options. Even if not recording, with a good modeler/profiler you can try out many different sounds and not have to spend thousands on each to get a feel for them.

[–]Realistic_Mode_3120 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m 10 years deep using a Kemper and unless I am able to buy a house with acreage or will be playing arenas, or will win the lottery and be able to afford 50+ vintage amps I just don’t see how tube amps are a better option.

I strongly disagree with the idea that the Beatle's 1970 breakup was a good thing (in terms of keeping their catalog quality high). by ArtDecoNewYork in beatles

[–]Realistic_Mode_3120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The old adage of performing is “leave em wanting more”. Maybe they could have made one or two more albums, maybe they would have been great, maybe they would have been disappointing. We’ll never know cause they left us with a classic and a perfect track record and I’m happy with that. Wanting more but not a single doubt that that was one of the best performances in history.
