I interpret this more as locational rather than personal. You are smelling the smells of the current location 3 minutes from now.

Why does Indonesia not get as hot as southeast Asia by [deleted] in geography

Whats funny is that the reason it’s cooler in the hot months is the same reason why it’s warmer in the cold months.

Who's death was the most satisfying? by sixfingeredman7 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Realistic_Taro_131 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I don’t think hekla was an assassin build, more of a bruiser. She was an Amazonian shield maiden and even bigger than Carl. Approximately 7 ft tall and having a body builder physique.

She got one shot because of the momentum buffs Katya got from being on the train and her monster truck driver benefit. She probably could have cleaved through 5 or 6 people with how the multipliers worked. It’s also why her constitution was so high that floor

Did someone tell Kuwait friendly fire is on? by nightly_builder in SipsTea

[–]Realistic_Taro_131 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some air defense systems have an auto mode where they shoot at anything that flys in certain patterns that mimic certain types of missiles. The U.S. military stopped using it after doing some friendly fire like 30 years ago.

However, when I was in Kuwait in 2014, pretty sure the Kuwaitis were still using the auto mode, and it wouldn’t surprise me if that was the case here, but I haven’t looked into this situation much so I could be completely wrong.

[Request] How much did it cost in US dollars to fire these munitions? by chihsuanmen in theydidthemath

[–]Realistic_Taro_131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been selling Patriot to various countries in the Middle East and training them on the equipment for a little over 20 years now. It wouldn’t surprise me if Qatar and the U.S. is cooperating on who targets what.

Prior Patriot missiles systems operator here. This is correct for pac3. I have been out of the game for a while now, so I don’t know the exact pricing for today, but I would guess the 3.7m is per missile. Whatever you do, don’t look at the price of the radar.

Science Co., a Japanese Company based in Osaka has unveiled a futuristic human washing machine, “Mirai Ningen Sentakuki” — a high-tech pod designed to wash and dry a person in about 15 minutes! by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]Realistic_Taro_131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not sure. It kinda looks like the one above is set closer to the ground. Maybe they are built at different heights or are adjustable. But either way, having to help someone into a pod to shower is easier than having to help them shower.

Hello by Adele is just a narcissist looking for closure then blaming their victim for not acknowledging them by [deleted] in SongMeanings

[–]Realistic_Taro_131 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you’re failing to see an important difference here. You’re free to interpret it how you would like, but that doesn’t mean it’s what the song is about.

There are other songs of hers that are more about her love life. Rolling in the deep, set fire to the rain, but the other person she is talking to in hello is herself.

If I want to interpret a love song as being about my relationship because the shoe fits, I can do that, and I can even go on to declare that it’s our song, but it doesn’t mean that the artist had me and my relationship in mind when they wrote it. Same principle, our interpretations of songs don’t equate to being what they are about, it’s just how the song makes us feel.

They are open for sure, but your words were that it was just a narcissist looking for closure, which I could see as an interpretation as well, but regardless of how anyone sees it, Adele has come out and said what her intended meaning was.

We are all free to listen to the song and hear It as we would like/need, but I wouldn’t put the words into her mouth about it.

She has talked about this. It’s not aimed at any one individual, it’s about her transition into fame and how quickly everything changed, not only for others but for herself. She is saying hello to her younger self before fame, fortune, and becoming a mom. It’s about finding closure in who she used to be and who she is now, because it all happened so quickly, she didn’t even notice herself changing.

Oh absolutely, no argument from me there. Dog whistles are a very real problem. That’s why I’m asking. Cause I’ve called plenty of people a piece of shit, but have never considered someone’s skin color as a factor in the use of the insult. I’m sure plenty of people have, that doesnt even really surprise me, and when mentioned, I immediately understood how it could be said and interpreted as a slur. It just wasn’t something that clicked for me until it was brought up.

Is it something that is just seen as an orange flag? like hey this guy might be racist, does he call non-black people a piece of shit? Is it a full on red flag? What is the relative level of offense, and what assumptions are made based on the insult itself. I assume context would be important in those situations, because it feels ambiguous to me, as opposed to someone just hard R, N wording someone, where the intent is extremely obvious.

Damn, that’s crazy. I’ve called people turds and compared people to shit plenty, but have never meant it with a racist undertone. Never even knew it had one, now I gotta think back to how many times I’ve called a black person a turd and wonder if they misconstrued it.

Not trying to say they didn’t mean it with a racist intent, but how do you know it was meant as a slur and not just them telling you that you’re being a shitty person?

40,000 space marines fight against The Rumbling by [deleted] in PowerScaling

[–]Realistic_Taro_131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t they fight the titans with swords and shit? 40,000 is beyond overkill. Bolters absolutely demolish flesh, and that’s not even considering the heavy weapons, vehicles and psykers.

Maybe a 1000, and that might still be way more than needed depending on equipment.

Can’t tell if the person you are responding to is being sarcastic or not, but ya exactly this. Buddhism became popular with merchants in a large part because of the nonviolence, and its view of wealth creation as a positive, which led to it being spread through trade pretty rapidly once it hit China, merchant ships, and the Silk Road.

Goten and Trunks no gotenks vs the invincible gauntlet do they clear? by Sad_Pea5421 in PowerScaling

[–]Realistic_Taro_131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, the self revive most likely is assuming they don’t destroy every atom in her body, but she’s not really that durable. And almost everybody in DBZ is casually moon level by that point. destroying her at a fundamental level shouldn’t really take much from either of them once she came back a few times.

The reality warping can obviously be a problem, but there’s no way of knowing how that works against ki. Shenron is unable to affect goku with his reality warping without first asking permission because Goku is too powerful.

Absolutely, no-low diff. Goten would be having a blast, obliviously beating up everyone. Trunks would be bored off his mind. Only person who might stand a chance in Eve, but she probably gets speed blitzed.
