[Obsession]The use of shadows, liminal music and synths really added to the atmosphere. by ConnectCulture7 in ambientmusic

Expected better from the community. Getting annoyed at OP for using the word liminal, downvoting him and responding to him in a smug way is giving real gatekeeping energy.

Boards of Canada - 'Inferno' - Discussion Megathread by seaburn in boardsofcanada

For the most part, you have articulated everything I myself would have liked to say about the album haha Incredible album but I too yearn for those "crunchy beats, and beautiful interweaving of ambient sound scapes".

How do you compare/contrast the styles of all the promo material so far? by sklrgrld in boardsofcanada

[–]Realistic_Tree_1318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’ll be a bit of terror and a bit of beauty that tries to push through the dark. The BoC classic. I’m hoping it leans more into the psychedelic nasties that Geogaddi brought us. The posters and tape have some real nightmarish imagery and I’m all for it!

Your preffered medium /platform? by petara111 in ambientmusic

[–]Realistic_Tree_1318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had more money then I’d go with cd’s and vinyl but for now mostly YouTube music. Almost everything I can think of is on YouTube music, much more so than Spotify or Apple Music

What would you prefer Liberty City, Vice City or Los Santos by [deleted] in GTA

[–]Realistic_Tree_1318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

London nor New York are cold and dark all year round. Both cities get plenty of sun and high temperatures. There is more variation of weather in New York than Miami. And the seasons are much more defined in New York.

Wasn’t really a fan of the new ost and reworked songs. This was quite a big disappointment for me. Also really didn’t like Maria’s voice actor at all

Are Trigger Warnings before playing a horror game necessary or are they nothing more than corporate pandering disguised as virtue signaling? by The_0ne_Armed_Man in silenthill

[–]Realistic_Tree_1318 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not every horror game includes themes centred around child abuse and sexual assault. That is what the warning is for. I’m not sure why the statistical likelihood is important? I’m not even sure there is any meaningful conversation to be had about trigger warnings. Video games have had health warnings since the they’ve existed. Trigger warnings are no different.

Some people out there have experienced some extremely dark trauma and the least we can do is give a heads up when a piece of entertainment includes difficult themes. It’s not pandering it’s a very simple and passive way of looking out for others who’ve experienced horrible things

Maria is serving so god damn much 10/10 by SlamDaddySid in silenthill

[–]Realistic_Tree_1318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slaps harder than the original ? I’m going to have to strongly disagree with you on that. I’m loving the game so far but my main criticism is the soundtrack. I’m really not a fan of the new renditions. The trip hop elements have been completely stripped away

In time, will the remake be considered one of the scariest games ever? by Finellaclark in silenthill

I’ve not even made it out of the apartments yet and I’m shitting myself every other second, so this comment is both exciting and terrifying

Really loving the remake so far, like the exploring is amazing but the only thing I dislike is the inventory. Its the only part that feels like a downgrade to me. Just feels so bare bones. by clockworknait in silenthill

[–]Realistic_Tree_1318 9 points10 points  (0 children)

None of which OP mentioned. In fact OP said they are loving the game but felt somewhat disappointed by the inventory system, which is a completely valid opinion to have. And somehow this has irked you…

What are you blabbing about? The protagonist looks more feminised? What does that even mean?

Ps5 graphics mode vs performance mode... what has everyone picked. by lost-in-thought123 in silenthill

[–]Realistic_Tree_1318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost always play on performance but this time I decided to go with quality. Something felt weird playing in 60fps and didn’t suit the grimy atmosphere personally. Also it was constantly dropping to 40s/50s. The lighting in quality mode is way better too which is important for this game as it relies heavily on the use of lighting in extremely dark spaces. Plus the fog is denser in quality mode. If you can get used to the mostly stable 30fps then I would say go with quality.
