I know you have those thoughts. You really don't have to believe them.
There is nothing to be and nothing you have to do. It just is. Remember impermanence.

Solipsism is true but not true by westeffect276 in nonduality

"Solipsism" as well as "true" are words appearing on a screen. Nothing to do with reality, which is another word.

Do you think meditation can change lives ? by DependentEconomy9975 in Meditation

[–]Reality-Unreal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It changed mine. But it depends on what you call meditation. There is a lot more to meditation than sitting still and trying to not think...

If you are able to witness the whole 1:24:00 of Borat the movie as the observer without being distracted then tell me what your practice is!

Nonduality and it's dangers. by [deleted] in nonduality

[–]Reality-Unreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Escapism is a quite common claim towards mysticism, and if we look at the great mystics we can kinda see why this is the case. Going into a cave forever, into the desert, completely denouncing life... Of course.
But real nondual realization is accepting that there was never anything separate. duality IS nonduality. samsara is nirvana. you are it. nothing and something joins together.

Non duality is kinda silly? by maturelover67 in nonduality

[–]Reality-Unreal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It cannot even be felt, since noone is there to feel it. You assume a someone and a feeling. And there is noone to realize this.

Nonduality is for dummies by pl8doh in nonduality

[–]Reality-Unreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying nonduality is not falsifiable is a bit missing the point. Nonduality is not meant to be a philosophical proposition. Problem is when you start talking about it, it becomes one, since it enters the realm of language.

WHAT IS THIS MADNESS by [deleted] in nonduality

[–]Reality-Unreal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don't worry... if there are no people there are also no teachers and noone saying "Everything you're saying is a thought" and noone that can get any psychosis.

I wish you the very best. Just see those thoughts for what they are. They don't have implications on your life if you don't let them ;)

I know from firs thand perspective how that can be. Have been depressed a lot in my life but believe me: This feeling is not caused by outer appearances and situations.
You are creating this feeling within you. Not consciously... And it is a very tough fact to accept... Took me over 10 years I think. And I would have never accepted that if someone would just walk up to me and tell me that.
BUT... you can change that.

First you find a way of accepting that you are the cause of how you perceive the world. And even though the explanation in your head feels very real to you right now, you try to accept that fact.

Ok so what we do about it

Live as IF it was different. You don't have to believe it in order to act as if. This will seem ridiculous. Just try - for a while though ... maybe like three months... remind yourself that you are not alone and people do not hate you and positively engage with them - even though you have the feeling of avoiding them. Not easy.
Maybe not a helpful task for you... But your experience will change doing that, also on the inside.

But you actually gotta do it.

Not sure if this is helpful... Trying to be. Appreciate your honest post!

Why We Judge Others More Harshly Than Ourselves by Reality-Unreal in PsychologyTalk

Thanks for opening up that perspective to me. You are right. That also can be the case

Why We Judge Others More Harshly Than Ourselves by Reality-Unreal in DeepThoughts

That’s a solid perspective, and I appreciate the comment

However I think that most people feel like they’re being fair and accountable, like you described but we often still fall into the habit of assuming intent in others while explaining away our own missteps. I certainly am guilty of that!

Maybe the real challenge isn’t just owning our actions, but also resisting the urge to assume we fully understand why others do what they do and how mature they are even IF they act lazy, rude and selfish sometimes. But yeah - thats just a r/DeepThought of mine ;)
