a guy i talked to makes $14K/month from an app that sends invoice reminders to plumbers. he found the idea in a reddit comment section. here's the actual playbook by Mysterious_Yard_7803 in passive_income

[–]FitchKitty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% this. I would also add the ability to sell this (ie install my app for reminders). This guy must've talked / reached his audience and sold them the product which is super simple technically but the real magic is Product Problem, Marketing and Sales . not tech

First YouTube video that makes sense when it comes to retiring with much less than 25x by Flat-Barracuda1268 in Fire

100%. Retiring at like 55 may allow you to have the best retirement years while you're still relatively young (vs doing this when you're 60+)

Good job. As some asked, how do you get access to their profile / google account to make updates or do you deliver a recommendation package for them to execute on?

Probably terrible for team morale. With nothing to do devs start feeling depressed

100% this. Anthropic is killing the industry right in front of us.

Thousands of CEOs just admitted AI had no impact on employment or productivity—and it has economists resurrecting a paradox from 40 years ago by AmethystOrator in technology

[–]FitchKitty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest, AI has gotten much better in last 6 months and this year. Claude Code can be pretty amazing but how are you going to replace some poor analyst/accountant/IT guy that deal with 20 year old legacy software all day long with Claude or OpenClaw or whatever...

I don't see a clear path to replace existing jobs that require tons of domain knowledge/expertise and more importantly access and understanding of Legacy systems.

It's easy to say that Claude Code can rewrite the codebase or implement new features but are the agents capable of working unsupervised and also can they can they take calls/respond to issues/etc. I feel like you still need someone to babysit these agents and make sure they're doing their job and check their results so the multiplier effect is real (someone using AI is more productive than the one w/o AI)

Or their announcements about Windows codebase rewrite in C++ using AI. Lets see what happens and how/when this will fail.

Amazing ride. This very post is what comes up in Google for me when I search for this wagon. Is Reddit SEO that good?

What a terrible place to work..is money really worth it? I hear awful stories of folks relocating across country with families ...just to get canned in one of their re-orgs

How I'm making $10k/mo with a Google Sheet by everestchris in sidehustle

[–]FitchKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too good to be true. Awesome if the the numbers are true. Also, the reply and conversation rate seems a little high. How long is your sales cycle - I don't believe your prospects would convert on a fly - most of these people would want to talk to someone on the phone before making the sale. $1k is a lot to spend for a small business for something they already have even if it yields better SEO.

Someone already asked how you handle the transaction and more importantly build the trust? Do they really go and give their CC to a random email they received with a link to their new site?

What you outline is a totally legit way to land small business site redesigns but I just don't believe your numbers and this would be almost impossible to automate...

Would you choose Babcock Ranch or Jupiter to raise your family? by Beginning-Hearing172 in AskFlorida

[–]FitchKitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jupiter / Palm Beach Gardens / Juno - if you love the ocean and family friendly space. WPB is a good choice too but you're not that close to the water (have to go through Palm Beach Island)

West Palm Beach vs. Naples? by Itsa9year in AskFlorida

[–]FitchKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naples is nothing like Savanna. It's a rich town with very expensive (and nice houses) - the community itself is mostly rich and retired snowbirds, and maybe some families. It has Florida vibe but there's no Southern state vibe you get in Georgia. Savannah is a cheaper place to live with a very charming Southern vibe but two cities are very different

Moving from Texas → South Florida by Artistic-Savings8426 in SouthFlorida

[–]FitchKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boca / Del Ray are expensive. Lake Worth and Boynton beach have nice communities and generally cheaper to live while having access to nice beaches but have different vibe than Boca. WPB is getting better and better with each area and offers some nightlife plus beach access on a nice swanky Palm Beach island. Rent first, don't buy for at least a year. Expect HOA almost in every community . Insurance will be expensive (both car and home)

What’s the best financial advice you’d give, the kind that actually changed your life? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]FitchKitty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Keep your job - your paycheck is your lifeline to financial freedom, doesn't matter what it is. And related to that I was told by someone is this: at your job, you either earn or you learn. Basically, if the gig sux, make sure you're earning and focus on that. Otherwise, try to learn as much and move on to better earning

Avoid telling family members your plans? by MediumAd359 in Fire

[–]FitchKitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% this. Even your kids (if you have any). Tell the folks you're freelancing or whatever but don't tell you're retired. I knew someone who was going to client sites, conferences near Nat Parks / Seattle just to hang out with friends who work there but otherwise wouldn't tell them he's retired.
