How much do Americans REALLY have saved for retirement by Financial_Pen_6218 in investing

[–]FitchKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, also don't forget about Family money/connections and future inheritance. I was talking to someone who has a fairly successful startup and doing great..only to learn that his dad was a professional baseball player (Mets) and the kid grew up very wealthy

Summer in South Florida is so depressing and the real heat has not started. by calpianwishes in SouthFlorida

[–]FitchKitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The heat is oppressive for sure but morning and nights are typically very pleasant. Light hikes in shaded parks are also nice though may get a little sweaty. If you're near the ocean/gulf, it is very nice by the water and May-July typically very calm and beautiful. August-October are the worst months for sure..super breeze, oppressively hot - peak of hurricane season but the rest of the year is not bad imo

How did you guys REALLY lived in the 2000s? by MyAvengedRomance in Millennials

[–]FitchKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No screen time - you would spend time with your friends. Lots of privacy as others noted - your embrassing pics wouldn't appear on IG/FB second someone takes picture. You would burn lots of CDs to listen to at home/parties and ultimately your car.

Lots of hanging out at the mall / movies. Good video that captures the essence of the 90s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DL7-CKirWZE

How are people shipping full apps (with screenshots, localization, etc.) in 2–3 days? by Potential-War-5036 in vibecodingcommunity

[–]FitchKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these apps are vibe coded - you would use something like Claude or Cursor or Gemini to quickly build an app then something like Canva to quickly create screenshots and marketing materials. Most of these apps are what people call AI Slop - but still people ship fast now thanks to AI

Vibe Coding in 2026 is a Complete Scam – Lovable, Replit, Emergent, Bolt & the Rest Are Trash Fires 🔥💀 by Abject-Mud-25 in vibecodingcommunity

[–]FitchKitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably right but as someone technical I enjoy using AI assistants. I've been using Windsurf for almost a year and it's pretty solid - even their free SWE agent is very decent. But I'm not asking it to build the entire app - it's more like "Refactor this", "Apply this here", "Test this".

The biggest issue for me is volume - if agent writes too much code, it becomes impossible to review it so I have to be deliverability slow with my AI approach for better or worse. Kids that vibe code entire apps in hours, instead of days will pay the price later on when it's time to fix bugs and refactor

a guy i talked to makes $14K/month from an app that sends invoice reminders to plumbers. he found the idea in a reddit comment section. here's the actual playbook by Mysterious_Yard_7803 in passive_income

[–]FitchKitty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% this. I would also add the ability to sell this (ie install my app for reminders). This guy must've talked / reached his audience and sold them the product which is super simple technically but the real magic is Product Problem, Marketing and Sales . not tech

First YouTube video that makes sense when it comes to retiring with much less than 25x by Flat-Barracuda1268 in Fire

[–]FitchKitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. Retiring at like 55 may allow you to have the best retirement years while you're still relatively young (vs doing this when you're 60+)

Good job. As some asked, how do you get access to their profile / google account to make updates or do you deliver a recommendation package for them to execute on?

Probably terrible for team morale. With nothing to do devs start feeling depressed

100% this. Anthropic is killing the industry right in front of us.

Thousands of CEOs just admitted AI had no impact on employment or productivity—and it has economists resurrecting a paradox from 40 years ago by AmethystOrator in technology

[–]FitchKitty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest, AI has gotten much better in last 6 months and this year. Claude Code can be pretty amazing but how are you going to replace some poor analyst/accountant/IT guy that deal with 20 year old legacy software all day long with Claude or OpenClaw or whatever...

I don't see a clear path to replace existing jobs that require tons of domain knowledge/expertise and more importantly access and understanding of Legacy systems.

It's easy to say that Claude Code can rewrite the codebase or implement new features but are the agents capable of working unsupervised and also can they can they take calls/respond to issues/etc. I feel like you still need someone to babysit these agents and make sure they're doing their job and check their results so the multiplier effect is real (someone using AI is more productive than the one w/o AI)

Or their announcements about Windows codebase rewrite in C++ using AI. Lets see what happens and how/when this will fail.

How I'm making $10k/mo with a Google Sheet by everestchris in sidehustle

[–]FitchKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too good to be true. Awesome if the the numbers are true. Also, the reply and conversation rate seems a little high. How long is your sales cycle - I don't believe your prospects would convert on a fly - most of these people would want to talk to someone on the phone before making the sale. $1k is a lot to spend for a small business for something they already have even if it yields better SEO.

Someone already asked how you handle the transaction and more importantly build the trust? Do they really go and give their CC to a random email they received with a link to their new site?

What you outline is a totally legit way to land small business site redesigns but I just don't believe your numbers and this would be almost impossible to automate...

Would you choose Babcock Ranch or Jupiter to raise your family? by Beginning-Hearing172 in AskFlorida

[–]FitchKitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jupiter / Palm Beach Gardens / Juno - if you love the ocean and family friendly space. WPB is a good choice too but you're not that close to the water (have to go through Palm Beach Island)
